Batting for 50 overs would have helped tooJeez, sounds like we are actually bowling well. 50 more could have been very, very useful here.

They're still long spells though, and I'd like to have seen Fred on by now. He is our best bowler, and you'd want him to have a dart at these two before they're set. But a good effort by the openers, which makes a change after what we've seen in the last 12 months.Fair point. Lewis and Anderson bowling long spells here. Flintoff obviously realises this one isn't going to the death, either bowl them out or lose. If he comes on and bowls well, it really is game on IMO.
So, why was Panesar dropped? Have missed our bowling thus far in this series, so don't know how good he's been? Opinions?
Is Flintoff England's best bowler and best batter in the side at the moment? Would that be the general consensus in England do you think? They're still long spells though, and I'd like to have seen Fred on by now. True.Just realistic mate. And, tbf, a suitably grumpy response to waking up to this particular nonperformance. Anyway, apart from Loye, what postives would you take from today's "batting"?
You're right, he has had 4 not outs batting 2nd but his highest score is 36*. Interesting that of the 50 games he has played, Aussie have batting first in 32 and second only 18 so he hasn't had a lot of opportunities yet.Chance for Hussey to do a Bevan here. A successful chase is basically the only sort of ODI innings he hasn't played so far, largely due to a lack of chances with the team in trouble.
Yes, but Aus usually find someone to see them home, so odds are still hugely in their favour imo. As you say though, the bowling looks more impressive. Helps that there isn't an Ali, Harmison, Bresnan, Plunkett or Mahmood insight, of course.True.
But you would hardly be surprised by this effort. That said they have come back well with the ball and it could be interesting. If England do win it, then that is one helluva comeback.
