Geez Dhoni, really layed into Rohit Sharma there in the post-match interview. Not good, not good at all, you don't say that sort of stuff in public about a colleague.
What did he say? Dhoni's reactions after he was out were poor as well. Not impressed by Dhoni a lot over a lot of things in the last month or so.

I have never been a huge fan of Dhoni's PR skills, he doesn't seem to have a clue what to say in public and what not to say, criticising a young player publicly could be very damaging for that player's morale, poor form from MS.

Dhoni may have been disappointed for being run out at a crucial stage but he had no business to say on the world stage that even with his cramps he would have made the run that Rohit couldn't. He should have been graceful and said that he cant blame anyone since he had called for it himself.

Sharma must be feeling the earth should open up ans swallow him since the skipper said that this is what changed the match and that Rohit was standing inside the crease without taking a start. That may have been so but this was certainly not the place to say it.

Bad form skipper.

Haddin is no Gilchrist but he is one of the heaviest scorers in Australian domestic circuit, so he is a pretty damn good in his own right
Point about me mentioning Gilchrist was that him retiring will mean he will leave a gap (no matter how small or big) which means that another batting option is good for the team. It is just one of the reasons though.

On the other hand while criticising the bating for its cavalier attitude (rightly so) he defended his good friend Yuvraj saying that the shot was on.

It may have been on MSD but it wasn't required ! With just Uthappa to come and he had not had much of a hit on tour, Yuvraj and Dhoni should have kept the ball on the ground. They were both in, going well and the run rate was always around four !

Bad form skipper.

Actually, I'm quite impressed with Dhoni's PR skills. He appears to speak his mind and I think honesty with one's teammates is important.

Got no problem with what Dhoni said today. He was spot on with everything. Our bowlers put us into the box seat today only for our batsmen to throw it all away. Young or not these guys aren't playing in the minor leagues anymore and should take more responsibility for their actions. All fair game.

AWTA. Dhoni's been outstanding both in the field and with the bat - he had every right to go at the other batsman for throwing their wickets away.

Yeah agree with that. Although I do feel sorry for Rohit, who's been so good this entire series and maybe Dhoni didn't need to say that he would've made the run with that cramp anyway. Otherwise everything else was spot on.

I was so happy with India's bowling and fielding today, we looked a real world class unit out there. Sadly the batsmen disappointed. Say what you will, but India's always been like that. They never seem to produce a 'complete' game. Either the batsmen do really well and the bowlers are horrible or when the bowling clicks, the batsmen don't fire.

Looking forward to India vs Sri Lanka on Tuesday, although I'll miss most of the game due to being at work. Odd that it's shown on Fox Sports not Channel 9, but doesn't matter anyways.

Odd, because I've been really impressed with Dhoni. The way he handles his team is terrific, the way he leads from the front in terms of batting and wicket keeping is brilliant and the way he's seemed to have grown a great cricketing brain instead of being an Indian Shahid Afridi is even better. Most of the younger guys seem really comfortable with him too, and I'm sure Dhoni will get over that Rohit Sharma run out since he's a pretty cool and calm sort of guy.

Fantastic bowling effort, to be dismissed for 203, and win by 50 runs is a phenominal achievement. Johnson is sooooo good with the white ball it's not funny, love watching him bowl. Clarke played another awesome innings as well, I fail to see why he doesn't get anywhere near the wraps that Symonds, Hussey or Hayden do, when afaic he's a better ODI batsmen then all of them.

The important thing is to be cool and calm where it matters, in public. Having made Rohit feel so small in full view of millions, including his family and friends at home, his 'getting over it' with time isn't much comfort.

Dhoni is a breath of fresh air, as far as Indian cricketers go. Love how he plays the game, love his passion and his new found maturity. Hope his injury isn't bad. We need him big time. If anyone can teach the young guys discipline it's him.

That maybe correct. I only hope he makes sure when he is disciplining a young player he does it in private.

I am sure Rohit was feeling terrible for that run out anyway. On top of that, Dhoni may have given him an earful (maybe not) in the dressing room. The last thing he needed was a public disciplining on a world telecast.

I just don't see why he needs to be so sheltered. He's not in a protected environment anymore.

Either way he knows his players better than the rest of us do. He wouldn't be saying these things unless he felt it would have the desired effect. Maybe that's why he didn't go all out on Yuvraj and gave Rohit a serve.
