The hosts of the Champions Trophy have a long road ahead if they are to make a significant impact on the tournament. Michael Vaughan will remain under his personal cloud of questions pertaining to his ODI merit, whilst leading a 14-man squad of ODI underachievers. Amidst heavy controversy, Zimbabwe poses a very inexperienced team, under the guidance of Hamilton Masakadza. In the same group as Australia and Sri Lanka, the future is not bright.

Kenya
Veteran Steve Tikolo leads a 14-man Kenyan squad into the Champions Trophy. Grouped with Pakistan and India, Kenya face a tough task, but given the predictability of both teams, would still back themselves to pull off an upset.

Collymore OUT of Champions Trophy

The hopes of reigning champions and World Cup winners, the West Indies, have been severely hit heading into their first round match against South Africa.

Seamer Corey Collymore has been ruled out of the tournament with strained ankle ligaments. The injury appears to have been sustained during the closing stages of the West Indies' first full training session since arriving in England.

Fellow Bajan, Fidel Edwards has been called up as his replacement.

Collymore declined to comment, but coach Bennett King addressed the media briefly, "It's unfortunate to lose a bowler of the quality of Corey, but we're confident in the ability of Fidel Edwards and it's a good opportunity for him to add a bit of extra aggression to our attack. It's a slight setback to preparations, but the confidence is still there."

Hogg and Ponting kiss and makeup

Brad Hogg has been added to Australia's Champions Trophy squad, after he and captain Ricky Ponting resolved their conflict. The nature of the rift is not yet known, but it initially saw Hogg left out of the squad in favour of Stuart Clark.

After Hogg delivered a letter of apology to Ponting, normal service resumed.
