Awesome! Always a wonderful feeling to beat Aussie. :) Great stuff by the openers as well as Watt, the platform was set and all the players worked well together to pick up a great win - with three overs to spare, too!

Great effort, boys :) Semi Finals now and then we can hopefully put memories of the WC to bed.

With luck, I've also got my bad game out of the way for the tournament!

I don`t believe it. Huge victory, dominated them, especially batting wise. And well done to the Watt machine with crucial breakthroughs.

GROUP 1:
Proteas book semi-final spot
South Africa vs Pakistan
at Sophia Gardens

South Africa breezed past Pakistan to take the final spot in the round of four of the Champions Trophy. After a strong showing from the bowlers, South Africa reached 195/5 for victory with over 7 overs to spare.

Andre Nel was the main bowling threat, and claimed 3 big middle order wickets, as Pakistan slipped to 102/5 before being bowling out for 193. Graeme Smith and Jacques Kallis then stroked calm half-centuries, and despite a potent spell from Mohammad Sami, South Africa won comfortably.

Conditions: Overcast; generally good for batting
Toss: Pakistan

Pakistan 193 ao (49.2 overs)
South Africa 195/5 (42.2 overs)

South Africa won by 5 wickets.
South Africa (4 points) Pakistan (1 point)

GROUP 2:
England demolish Windies
England vs West Indies
at Bristol

The defending champions were unceremoniously dumped out of the Champions Trophy, as England dealt harshly with the West Indies in the final match of the second round.

Marcus Trescothick's big hundred set up a total of 302/5, then Andrew Flintoff, Steve Harmison, and Liam Plunkett shared 7 wickets toward victory by 155 runs. Brian Lara opened the batting for the West Indies, but could neither get any momentum at the crease nor could he inspire a strong team showing.

Harmison claimed the last 3 wickets in one over, rushing the humiliating close.

Conditions: Overcast; good batting conditions
Toss: England

England 302/5 (50 overs)
West Indies 147 ao (37 overs)

England won by 155 runs.
England (5 points) West Indies (0 points)

it's great that we've drawn the little lankans. Should really be a walk in the park. Our efforts here remind me of the aussies in the 99 world cup where it got to the stage where every match from about half way in was do or die and we're handling the pressure well.

Great win!

Even though I was hit around a bit I got Symonds out well before he could go on and really hurt us and get the score well over 300.

SEMI-FINAL 1:
South Africans hold nerve for Final spot
South Africa vs India
at Old Trafford

South Africa squeezed into the final of the Champions Trophy with a slim 4-run victory over India. The South Africans ultimately defended a total of 277/4, but a 147-run partnership between Rahul Dravid and Virender Sehwag ensured that the game would be epic.

The class of the South African seam attack told in the end however, as the bowlers held their nerve, even as India mounted a challenge that saw them score 85 runs off the last 11 overs of the innings. Makhaya Ntini dismissed the dangerous Dhoni cheaply, then bowled Kaif spectacularly a ball later. At that stage India needed 16 runs off the final 2 overs, and when Nel found the edge of Yuvraj Singh's bat early in the 49th over, the battle became even more intense.

Agarkar and Pathan could manage just 10 runs off the final 10 balls, as India bowed gracefully out of the tournament.

Earlier, the South Africans were inserted in good conditions for seam bowlers, but a pugnacious hundred from captain Graeme Smith quickly disrupted the momentum of India. South Africa couldn't quite cash in in the final overs, but the eventual total proved to be just enough.

Conditions: Overcast; good seam movement and bounce for bowlers
Toss: India

South Africa 277/4 (50 overs)
India 273/7 (50 overs)

South Africa won by 4 runs.
South Africa advance to the final of the Champions Trophy.

Look at who Pollock got out. If he didn't get just one of those wickets, India probably would have won.
