Group A: Wayamba vs East Robbham Upper Body
Another terrific team bowling performance spearheaded another crucial win for East Robbham as they march toward the Champions League quarter-final round. All five bowlers contributed to bowl out Wayamba for 75, and though the batsmen were as assured, victory came by 4 wickets with a large number of overs to spare. Wayamba started well enough with 26 from the first 3 overs, but Watson broke through to have Udawatte (13) caught by Fitzsimmons, who went on to take 4 in the innings. The middle order struggled to settle against any bowler, and Mat Mitchell returned late to pick up the final two wickets and finish with the best figures of 3-21.
As has been the case recently, the Upper Body top order struggled to get going. Watson smacked Welegedara for a boundary and then was caught at slip two balls later. A promoted Dinnen then pulled the same bowler for four first up, and was trapped LBW a ball later. And 20-2 in the second over became 22-3 at the run out of Dan Smith (14) a few balls later. Josh Ritchie (22) and Bosco Fitzsimmons calmly edged the chase forward but both were accounted for by Sri Lankan spin, and at 57-6 the game was wide open. Young Marc Robbins and Michael Cannon united to try to guide the chase home, and they were fortunate enough to face up to Maharoof, who was belted for 21 runs in his second over to hasten the end of the game.

Group B: West Robbham Rabid Wolves vs Eagles
Kieron Pollard offered a typically swashbuckling revival to a struggling Rabid Wolves innings, as they edged out Eagles in their fifth round encounter. After the top order crumbled to 65-6, Sam Morris was running out of partners to bat toward a competitive total, when Pollard arrived. Morris played the cool hand of 40 (32 balls) and anchored the revival, but it was the lusty hitting of the Trinidadian import that proved the difference. He savaged 3 sixes and a boundary in one McLaren over, and compiled his 57 from just 29 balls. Rabid Wolves finished on an even 150-8 and set about to defend the competitive total.
Andrew Flintoff wasted no time in having Riley Rousouw caught at slip for a duck, and captain Kev Gough followed up with the wicket of du Preez for just 1. The score then 11-2 hardly recovered, as the CW spinners took toll yet again. From a devastating 65-7, Morne van Wyk and Cornelius de Villiers kept the chase alive. They added 63 for the 8th wicket, until Flintoff ended the contest with two quick blows. De Villiers managed a couple more blows, but with 10 needed off the last 3 balls, he was run out pushing for a second run.
