That's not fair to say in this format tbhI don't think he's out of form, it's just a reversion to average.

Yeah fair call. PTSD from the Melbourne test. That's not fair to say in this format tbh
He's talked about trying to put on more upper body muscle to make his shoulder more stable. Seems to have added a bit of mass elsewhere too. I think his heavier weight was a factor in his hamstring injuries, and also why his action's a little more open and less fluid than it used to be.Richardson is too good for the BBL. Looks like he's put a bit of weight on though.
Turns out he's 38. Several years older than I'd have guessed.Yeah he must be nearing 40 these days. Even at his peak he was a trick bowler rather than a really quick bowler.
Aside from not liking 'slower ball merchants' I also dislike his bowling aesthetically. Same reason I hated watching Christian bowling, whose action is even uglier.Tye to me represented what I really disliked about the Scorchers during those Langer years where they kept winning by scraping to 125 and defending them with slower ball merchants - it was incredibly effective but it was pretty much unwatchable as far as a T20 strategy goes.
Then I was there for that game where he very obviously deliberately bowled three feet over Vince's head to deny him a ton. Never booed so loudly at a game in my life.
It's still the same core of bowlers (Behrendorff, Richardson, Tye, Agar) that kept defending 130-140 in Perth's peak years. They've just lost Coulter-Nile, Willey and Paris, who were the lesser lights anyway. The whole scorchers pace bowling lineup is ridiculous really. Full of ex internationals.
Nah there was also Alfonso Thomas who was one of the dirtiest slower ball merchants of the lotIt's still the same core of bowlers (Behrendorff, Richardson, Tye, Agar) that kept defending 130-140 in Perth's peak years. Wasn't that also the era of list management shenanigans? I remember someone here once mentioning Tye was on a big state contract (when he almost never played in the Sheffield Shield) to get around the salary cap.Tye to me represented what I really disliked about the Scorchers during those Langer years where they kept winning by scraping to 125 and defending them with slower ball merchants - it was incredibly effective but it was pretty much unwatchable as far as a T20 strategy goes.
Yeah I think this was the time where the NSW/Vic teams complained constantly that the one-team states had a huge advantage because of that.Wasn't that also the era of list management shenanigans? Bloke's putting in a late audition for SL with his strike rateImagine Marcus Harris being your best T20 player
Apparently Thomas played two seasons at Perth (and one at Adelaide). I don't remember him at all.Nah there was also Alfonso Thomas who was one of the dirtiest slower ball merchants of the lot
EDIT: Yasir Arafat too. Morris and Richardson are more recent stalwarts and they've definitely made this team more watchable by miles
Yeah the Scorchers had bench strength better than some of the other sides first string, because WA had a strong list and Langer kept virtually every WA local with the Scorchers. Now they are spread everywhere thoughWasn't that also the era of list management shenanigans?
