Looking at the footage of the incident yesterday, Stoinis did eventually appeal, but rather than simply refer it the umpire asked Stoinis if he wanted to, and incredibly he said not to bother.

Stoinis definitely proving himself to not be sharpest knife in the drawer, and it's amazing he's captain. But I think considerable blame attaches to the umpire, who abrogated their own decision making responsibility. The footage show that they were watching, which means they should have been able to see that it was close. However rather than referring it after the appeal to ensure the correct decision was made, they put the pressure back on Stoinis at a time when he might have wanted to move on and not hold things up.
Very similar to the incident last summer too - umpires just not bothering to do their jobs because they cbf with the hassle of referring it absent a truly vociferous appeal, but last I checked there was no "only appeals yelled at by at least 50% of the team count" rider in the rules

Anyone else find it strange that the Heat open with Pierson, rather than, say. actual T20 opener Munro? I don't think he's good enough to get them a good start.

Same thing in Shield and Marsh Cup. Problem is he dominating Grade and making 2nd XI runs so they keep picking him. It's tough but maybe they just need to give him a rest and try someone else
You'd think after enough chances they might have got a measure on the guy's ceiling.
