***Official*** Bangladesh Tour of South Africa 2017

Hopefully SA will have Steyn,Philander,Morkel and Rabada fully fit when India turn up. I’d imagine the SA officials will have something in mind considering the pathetic pitches served up to SA in their last tour of India.
333 runs and 11 wickets, this happens when you have no quality quicks and play on low slow turning pitches. Bangladesh curators should develop a variety of pitches where possible.

This was not Nagpur but it was a pretty slow dry pitch, very subcontinental, not a green seamer in any way shape or form.

I am not a big fan of absolute green seamers when you have the better fast bowling attack, I think it actually evens the fields between weaker and stronger seam attacks, as it is easier to get wickets. The reason to do it is beacuse you think your batsmen can handle it better.

Same here. There needs to be the balance where bowlers don't need to just throw it up there and ball does the rest.

This wicket was some toil. But so is PE (when we beat Australia) & Durban (when we beat India).

Fewest tests by an SA spinner to reach 50 wickets

11
Hugh Tayfield
Bert Vogler
12
Aubrey Faulkner
Keshav Maharaj

Previous best since 1992 : Paul Adams (16)

I must say that is a pleasing winning margin.

If he doesn't lose form or get dropped for some weird reason Maharaj has a golden chance to beat Tayfield's record for an SA spinner. Only 120 wickets left to go and he's only 27.

No so good reading for Mehedi Hasan

Most runs conceded in a test without taking a wicket

260 Imran Tahir vs Australia 2012
259 Khan Mahmood vs Windies 1958
247 Mehedi Hasan vs South Africa 2017

I'd even take getting decimated at Steyn's hands if we could get him on the park LOL.

Think that series could be an awesome one, I think we'll put up a good fight.

Some interesting selections.

JP Duminy will captain the SA Invitation XI that also includes AB de Villiers for the 50 overs tour match against Bangladesh to be played at Bloemfontein’s Mangaung Oval on Thursday, October 12.

“Now that JP has retired from first-class cricket this will be a quality match play opportunity for him ahead of the Momentum ODI Series,” commented Cricket South Africa (CSA) National Selection Panel Convener Linda Zondi. “We are expecting AB to play in the next round of Sunfoil Series matches but he too will benefit from some game time in the shorter format.

“This match also provides the ideal opportunity for us to expand our player base for white-ball cricket, grow our talent and generally plan for the future.

Aiden Markram, Keshav Maharaj, Khaya Zondo, Heinrich Klaasen and Wiaan Mulder are all players who fall into this category.

“Robbie Frylinck is yet another player to be looked at in the all-rounder category while we have identified Matthew Breetzke as a young player who will play a key role for South Africa at next year’s under-19 World Cup.

He is 18 and yet another outstanding talent to come out of Grey High in Port Elizabeth.

“One of the reasons why India do so well at youth level is that they expose their younger players to competition in senior cricket at a young age and we intend to follow a similar path going forward,” concluded Zondi.

SA Invitation XI: JP Duminy (WSB Cape Cobras, captain), Matthew Breetzke (EP), Mbulelo Budaza (VKB Knights), AB de Villiers (Multiply Titans), Robbie Frylinck (Hollywoodbets Dolphins), Beuran Hendricks (bizhub Highveld Lions), Heinrich Klaasen (Multiply Titans), Keshav Maharaj (Hollywoodbets Dolphins), Aiden Markram (Multiply Titans), Wiaan Mulder (bizhub Highveld Lions), Malusi Siboto (Multiply Titans), Khaya Zondo (Hollywoodbets Dolphins)

Well done boys - luckily for our bowlers that it finished quickly.

Lol at Faf regarding the pitch for the next game, maybe he should take an early flight and start watering the pitch himself

Siboto and Frylinck. One looks like he needs a good meal and the other is three stone overweight. Why no Dane Paterson, unless he is an automatic selection?

Watched today’s play; that was dispiritingly meek by Bangladesh. The sort of performance you’d expect from them circa 2004.

With them becoming a force at home and some improved away performances even their worst batting efforts shouldn’t be as weak as this.

Quality bowling from SA; they’re as dangerous a bowler down as Gordon Greenidge was when he needed a runner!

Maharaja continues to impress; his guile and ability to deceive makes him one of the better Test spin bowlers to watch atm.

So the question is whether that's into the team or into the squad, with Parnell moving into the team having been the backup previously. I suspect it's the latter, but would definitely prefer the former.
To be honest I don't prefer any of them... considering where we were a few years ago this is pretty terrible as our best choice right now, which in honestly is dragging the net from our tier 3 bowlers. This would have been such an opportunity for Ngidi/DuPavilion to get some Test experince. Very frustrating.

It will be Parnell

I'm no Parnell fan but he can bowl the odd superb spell. I'd trust him to pick up more wickets than Paterson, who always struck me as a LO bowler.
