Ebadot doing little to improve his test average of 90 against an understrength Zimbabwe.

Also we should have held on to the old ball. It was clearly working for us.

Wow, what a terrible way to go out for Kaitano. Nicks a nothing delivery sliding down the leg side. Poor guy.

15 overs left in the session. The Zimmers desperately need to exploit the variable bounce somehow. Some spin might have helped.

Also, it's rather looking like the Deshi brains trust read the pitch right.

Pitch has been weird. Looked like it was going to be a proper Basin Reserve clone - green for 2/3 of a day and then progressively flatter until it reached a Day 5 pancake - but then all of a sudden it started going up and down.

It hasn't been hot enough in Harare to dry it out that much I would have thought (22-23 degrees every day) but I suppose simply having full days of sunshine could do the job even with mild temperatures.

Then again it's only 25% humidity. **** knows. I agree, it's been weird as ****.

Lead of 237 at stumps. There's probably only one result likely to happen here. Would have been a very different game with Ervine, Williams etc available.

Saif also needs to use this opportunity to get himself a score.

Good stuff from both these lads. Both have got their averages up to 33 now. Problem is, they've made the bulk of their career runs either against Zimbabwe, or on surfaces that better resemble Route 66 than any test match pitch worth the name.

Need them, and several others, to start performing when the going gets tough.

When's the last time we had a 100-run partnership in a Test match where one batter has contributed just single digits?

Could be on track for that here.
