From the PWC site: Meanwhile, by taking the wicket of Danish Kaneria, Khaled Mahmud has managed to halve his Test bowling average to 244, and to see his bowling rating soar to 6 points. There are, believe it or not, several bowlers below him, including Venkata Laxman, Marcus Trescothick and Marvan Atapattu, which might come as a shock to all three of them..

Intersting thinking Neil ..... I would like you to clarify weather Ashraful still Deserves to be #2 on your list and Shouldent Kapali switch with Saleh ????
I'm going off the fact that Javed Omar hasn't done too much either - it's just a fact of there needs to be someone to open with Hannan and none of the others fit the bill.

Maybe I am a little Patial towards Mortaza .... But dont you think he beckons a higher rating than # 10 ????

Maybe I am out-to-lunch but I think Mortaza could be a mini-flintoff .... :D

I'm not sure he's that good a batsman! Tapash has a test fifty (God only knows how that happened, but it did) and Rafique is much more of a batsman, technically, than Mortaza IMO (admittedly I haven't seen much of the guy) - still it gives them a long batting order :)

Tapesh made it on his Test debut (his fifty). I would liket o know where Mahmud is on the world rankings.

Well at Stumps on day 1, Bangladesh are 240/2 with Sarkar making 6 and Habibul getting out for 97, so close to his 100. Javed Omar is 96* and Mohammed Ashraful on 34*. Good start, may Javed Omar grab a double 100 (he could do with one).

Meanwhile Younis Khan appratnely will be back.

Well, a disasterous collapse there - 310-2 to 361 all out, what are the odds Shoaib will go on and on about how great he is again?

Shame about the xth middle-order collapse from the Bangladeshi - if they could only realise that staying in is important...

Oh, and Inzamam got 24 not out (!) for Pakistan on their way to 162/2. Rafique is doing some economic bowling out there - 1 for 21 after 13 overs. I reckon Pakistan will be all out for about 350 just after tea on third day, and then Bangladesh will collapse again...

Mahmud's wicket means his bowling average is now down to a fantastic 167! Keep going ;).

Hi Samuel, welcome to the forums!

I think it's easy to criticise Bangladesh, and also easy to forget that previously to not lose by an innings was a success. Now they are consistently posting scores of 250-300 or more, and if they have batsmen making centuries on a regular basis, they will always be able to put up a reaosnable total.

The bowling needs some work but everyone expected Pakistan to roll them with two innings victories, yet in parts they have fought and battled and competed very well.

There's no doubt they are showing signs of improvement with every game.

Hi Samuel - Welcome to the forums.

It does seem a lot of the Bangladeshi middle-order throw their wickets awat. Dav Whatmore has been working hard on this, and it seems he has gotten through to the top 3 at least.

Ashraful still throws his wicket away far too often.

As for Rafique, he's tidy, but I'm not sure how threatening he is. He seems to bowl very flat.

Welcome Samuel.

I think Bangladesh is on the way up in their cricket. I believe their tour of Australia did them the world of good and having a great coach in Dav Whatmore. I believe he is one of the best going around.

I cant believe Khaled has another wicket! He is in his form of his life in bowling so far.

As I write, Pakistan are 187/4 with Rafique with 3/54 off 26 overs.

Bangla at 2/43. And I suppose everyone will be AMAZINGLY surprosed that bashar is already on 28*

And a couple of balls after Mr Ponting made his post, Ashraful and Bashar vanished to leave Bangladesh struggling on 52/4 at stumps on the third day. Play was called off with 3 overs to spare. Still, Bangladesh could have a chance if they can only keep their wickets and score about 250 - although that seems beyond them at the moment.

Omar fell from his maiden ton in the first to a duck in the second, sadly. The hopes hinged on him an Bashar.

A question for the more knowledgeable on the boards - has a Bangladeshi bowler ever scored a hat-trick before?

EDIT: Gah. Lack of concentration made me think this was fourth, not third day.

Nope - Kapali's was the first.

As for Omar's first innings ton, he became the 4th Bangladeshi to score a ton, following Aminul Islam (on debut), Bashar and Mohammad Ashraful (also on debut).
