Obviously I don't know how the cases compare, but Jesse Ryder could be an encouraging example - his head injuries were described as critical, he had emergency surgery and he was placed in an induced coma. He came through it and was back in FC cricket a few months later.

I really hope there'll be a similar outcome here. A horrible thing to happen, and I wish him all the very best.

Absolutely awful stuff. Always been a big fan of the guy and considered him the future (shoulda been present) of the Aus team. Wishing him a speedy recovery.

Yeah from the news reports i read earlier. Players would hardly be in position to come out and play tomorrow in this situation.

Geez this is terrible. Barely did any work this arvo trying to follow this story... also regrettably stumbled upon those pictures of him with his helmet off lying on the pitch. So awful. Fingers crossed over the next 48 hours.

Also hope Abbott's taking this alright, must be tough, especially as a former teammate.
