Still 140 odd needed with 4 wickets in hand and tea not far off. Without Jaques or Haddin, I think NSW might play for the draw.

edit: also pretty overcast here. NSW win is unlikely now.

What hype?

The only hype he has been given is on this forum.
Given that he's only making his FC debut now, I'd say he's already recieved a fair amount of hype. I certainly can't remember any player being talked about so much before they were even representing their state. Obviously though, most cricket fans don't follow any levels lower than the Pura Cup, so many people won't know much about him yet.

Rest assured if he has even an average debut season people will start talking about him a lot more, and referencing his U-19 achievements etc, much like with guys like Ponting.

He's been given plenty of hype mate. Was talked about on the news a couple of times after his performances in the U/19 world cup, and the cricket show did a big story on him...so did channel nine new once too. Henriques is the most hyped player since Ponting I'd say. Coaches in Australia have declared him a star of the future...hope he does well in this innings.

Where's the hype coming from though? If I wasn't a member of this forum this would be the first time I'd have even seen his name.

Well, he's been given "rising star" segments on TV, and gets mentioned plenty on sites like cricinfo and other cricket media. I don't read much print cricket media, but I'm sure he's been mentioned there as well. Hell, when he's played for NSW in one dayers on TV before the commentators have gone on about him being a prodigy etc.

Guess I'm not as immersed in cricket media as I should be then.

Yeah, he's been given plenty of wraps all right.

Two years ago Greg Matthews was on the TV saying he'd take 200 test wickets (henriques, not Greg himself!).

Sydney radar

Looks heavy atm, but might not hang around. Although given there is only one session, probably not enough time to get a result in the match.
It was raining here about 5 minutes ago, though it seems to have cleared up a little now. Still, doubt there'll be enough play to get a result.

SA still in with a shot at winning if they get Henriques or Thornley quickly. Fairly long tail for NSW.

Henriques got into double figures this innings, at least. :p

International Debutant
Over 76.3 Henriques under a short ball from Tait. This precipitates an offer to the batsmen for bad light which they accept. The ground staff bring out the covers.

Draw looks certain now.

Damn, wish there was another day, It would give Henriques a chance to come out and make a 50 to win the match for NSW and play the role of hero!

Great Birtannia

U19 Captain
South Australia's stupidity cost them the chance for an outright win, Tait bowling bouncers in questionable light is always going to end up with the batsman being offered the light.

Table after round 1 of the Pura Cup:

Tas 6
WA 2
SA 2
NSW 0
Vic 0
Qld 0

Interesting decision by Langer to bat first against Tasmania give Rogers and North pilled on the runs against Victoria in the first Pura Cup game. Although the article on cricket.com.au says conditions are overcast. W.A. bowlers will want to be on song.

Is it going to be broadcast on Channel 9?

Edit: no, it seems not.

Are any OD games going to be on Channel 9 this summer? :(
