In fairness to the pace bowlers, was a very tough day to bowl even though there was enough movement around. With the works on one side of the ground, the wind was quite strong with no grandstand to break it. Both Geeves and Denton bowled from the Bradman End, the wind would have been very tough on them.Corey, any ideas on how Brett Geeves bowled? He bowled a heap of no balls so gotta assume the rythum isn't there yet. Good to see the young fella Smith get a few - hopefully Cosgrove can go on and make a big hundred tomorrow, cause I don't care how big he is, jeez he can play, and our batting stocks ain't exactly overflowing. Will be interested to see how long Krejza can keep it tight for. SA scored really slowly from memory last year, pretty risk free sort of cricket (not lose before win sort of thing) wonder if they are still batting in that sort of mindset.
I don't like to quote myself, but I feel it bears repeating. The reason Harris strengthens QLD so much has more to do with the quality of the QLD side than the strength of Harris.I have just realised.
No QLD batsman has over 2000 first class runs.
No QLD batsman has an average over 40.
No QLD bowler has taken more than 40 first class wickets.
Only Simpson has taken more than 20 first class wickets.
QLD sorely missing Hayden, Love, Maher, Perren, Symonds, Law etc...
In the bowling department the retirements of Kasprowitz and Bichel and the movement of Noffke and Johnson to the west really has depleted our bowling stocks.
okCongrats james smith 2nd 100 of the year,he showed some good signs at the end of last season.Hope for more things from him.
Another smith
Another product of australia under 19 cricket too
some more classic brockley, get this guy his own blog ffs
Makes sense as to why Krejza possibly had such tidy figures - always great for a spinner to bowl into a howling wind or have it at least helping out their drift. Cosgrove and Manou looking fairly comfortable this morning. Anything can happen with Cosgrove this summer, if he has a big few first games you never know here he could end up, there aren't many genuine match-winners floating around in the middle order. Any we have a bit of a vacancy of batsmen who can bowl decent meds as well... Any word on how Jones has looked with the gloves for Tassie? In fairness to the pace bowlers, was a very tough day to bowl even though there was enough movement around. Would have to disagree. Harris is a SERIOUSLY good cricketer - possibly the most underrated in Australia. Looks fairly innocent but bowls a very heavy ball and does a bit with it. Wouldn't suprise me if he played Test cricket in the next couple of years. Ponting is a well-documented fan as well.I don't like to quote myself, but I feel it bears repeating. Yeah, when he started using it, actually looked quite threatening. I get the feeling Krejza is used to beating guys on the defence with big turn, yesterday he was still getting enough rip but also getting some good pop. Looked far more threatening for it, Klinger especially was playing him with big nerves.Makes sense as to why Krejza possibly had such tidy figures - always great for a spinner to bowl into a howling wind or have it at least helping out their drift. Yeah, agree with that. I remember when I first saw him playing against Uni when I was there, he just sort of jogged up to the crease. The pace he got was surprising and he hit a lot of bat handles that day, was getting good seam on Uni Oval which, even if covered in grass, for some reason, is always a graveyeard for bowlers. Plus, he's put on a good 20Km/h of pace since then too. Dunno if he's a big mover of the ball, does just enough. Pretty intense competitor, though.Would have to disagree. Bit of a Cosgrove special getting out to the part-timer unfortunately. Krejza looks like he's been dealt with fairly confidently this morning though.Yeah, when he started using it, actually looked quite threatening. Jones looked tidy enough. Didn't really have a lot of work to do, though. Hard to say from what I saw.

Dammit, Cosgrove out to Dan Marsh early. Dan bloody Marsh of all people. Good to see Manou in the runs too, might have to take another trip down the road to see Kirki...... and some cricket.
Probably not quite as good with the ball. Will take poles at state level, not sure at a higher one.Is Cosgrove's medium pacers similar to Ryder? He seems to be very handy bowler.
