Good stuff from Krejza. My first reaction when I noticed he had taken 3 wickets was "I'm sure he has conceeded 100+ at 5 an over". Nice to see he has combined the wicket taking with the run prevention.

I went down to the ground after work and Krejza was much better once he worked over then knocked over Klinger. Before that point, was bowling darts basically. Butterworth was getting decent shape until he stopped putting the ball in the batsmen's half, Denton was right down on pace and got the yips with his run-up. Happy he didn't wreck SA this time. Watch for a 5-fer from his to win the game on day 4. Bastard.

Corey, any ideas on how Brett Geeves bowled? He bowled a heap of no balls so gotta assume the rythum isn't there yet. Good to see the young fella Smith get a few - hopefully Cosgrove can go on and make a big hundred tomorrow, cause I don't care how big he is, jeez he can play, and our batting stocks ain't exactly overflowing. Will be interested to see how long Krejza can keep it tight for. SA scored really slowly from memory last year, pretty risk free sort of cricket (not lose before win sort of thing) wonder if they are still batting in that sort of mindset.

The other game looks potentially pretty even poised. Can't believe Queensland didn't throw the kitchen sink at Noffke to stay. Once R Harris is back though it's all a fair bit stronger. Cutting, IMO, looks like he could be a handful in time. Watch for a big knock from Carseldine. Ronchi still out of knick it seems...

In fairness to the pace bowlers, was a very tough day to bowl even though there was enough movement around. With the works on one side of the ground, the wind was quite strong with no grandstand to break it. Both Geeves and Denton bowled from the Bradman End, the wind would have been very tough on them.

Smith looked pretty solid, good player all-round the wicket, very attacking. The Tas bowlers fed his drives a bit too much but he'd be a tough player to bowl to. Once he tightens his defensive game, especially to balls coming back in, reckon he'll be quite good. Butterworth nearly sneaked a couple through.

Cosgrove looked really good, backing him for a score tomorrow. Looked good from ball one. The Tas bowling was pretty friendly, though. The batters were definitely playing quite conservatively, especially Mass, but once Smith got past 50 and Cosgrove came out, there were some really great shots all 'round the ground. They were actually quite aggressive in the last session. It's a nice change and reminds me of the way SA used to bat when Hookesy would get in with someone like Nielsen/Scuderi and slap some bowlers around for the evening session.

I have just realised.

No QLD batsman has over 2000 first class runs.
No QLD batsman has an average over 40.
No QLD bowler has taken more than 40 first class wickets.
Only Simpson has taken more than 20 first class wickets.

QLD sorely missing Hayden, Love, Maher, Perren, Symonds, Law etc...

In the bowling department the retirements of Kasprowitz and Bichel and the movement of Noffke and Johnson to the west really has depleted our bowling stocks.
I don't like to quote myself, but I feel it bears repeating. The reason Harris strengthens QLD so much has more to do with the quality of the QLD side than the strength of Harris.

Makes sense as to why Krejza possibly had such tidy figures - always great for a spinner to bowl into a howling wind or have it at least helping out their drift. Cosgrove and Manou looking fairly comfortable this morning. Anything can happen with Cosgrove this summer, if he has a big few first games you never know here he could end up, there aren't many genuine match-winners floating around in the middle order. Any we have a bit of a vacancy of batsmen who can bowl decent meds as well... Any word on how Jones has looked with the gloves for Tassie?

Would have to disagree. Harris is a SERIOUSLY good cricketer - possibly the most underrated in Australia. Looks fairly innocent but bowls a very heavy ball and does a bit with it. Wouldn't suprise me if he played Test cricket in the next couple of years. Ponting is a well-documented fan as well.

Yeah, when he started using it, actually looked quite threatening. I get the feeling Krejza is used to beating guys on the defence with big turn, yesterday he was still getting enough rip but also getting some good pop. Looked far more threatening for it, Klinger especially was playing him with big nerves.

Jones looked tidy enough. Didn't really have a lot of work to do, though. Hard to say from what I saw.

Yeah, agree with that. I remember when I first saw him playing against Uni when I was there, he just sort of jogged up to the crease. The pace he got was surprising and he hit a lot of bat handles that day, was getting good seam on Uni Oval which, even if covered in grass, for some reason, is always a graveyeard for bowlers. Plus, he's put on a good 20Km/h of pace since then too. Dunno if he's a big mover of the ball, does just enough. Pretty intense competitor, though.

Dammit, Cosgrove out to Dan Marsh early. Dan bloody Marsh of all people. Good to see Manou in the runs too, might have to take another trip down the road to see Kirki...... and some cricket. :D

Bit of a Cosgrove special getting out to the part-timer unfortunately. Krejza looks like he's been dealt with fairly confidently this morning though.

And you've put the kiss of death on Manou! Geeves on a hat trick...

Yeah, massive R Harris fan here. Has impressed me every time I've seen him bowl.

PS: Jealous you can just wander down and visit your Mrs and... watch the cricket!

Is Cosgrove's medium pacers similar to Ryder? He seems to be very handy bowler.
Smith looks like a talent, been in good run scoring form. Just need Cooper to get some runs in FC.

Probably not quite as good with the ball. Will take poles at state level, not sure at a higher one.

SA's bowlers really turning the screws. I honestly can't remember the last time I said that.

Funny enough on paper its one of the weaker bowling lineup's they have fielded but each bowler has done their job thus far. Duval is having a good debut for Sa.

NUFAN

Bailey in the runs = gun.

Would love it if he kicks on, I always think of him as the type of player to make 70s, he needs a big 150 plus score or Tassie could lose.

In the other match, I'm really happy with QLD's score, especially for Broad!

Ryan Broad and George Bailey are pretty much my two favourite batsman in the country.

why no craig borgas...?

"craig" hasn't made any runs in the preseason or at the end of last year so hasn't warrented a spot.

Pleased to see Bailey score some runs, I guess its about time he puts in some strong performances in order to come in contention for national selection, for a bloke of his talent I really don't think he has played upto his potential.

He in the futures cup side, depends how cooper goes, odd cooper playing in the middle order, borgas more suited.I guess he can always play for scotland again or shift states
