I can only guess, but I would think that they wouldn't have wanted much traffic on it ahead of the season.

And it would be more expensive to use the SCG than the grade grounds.

SCG redevelopment. Part of it is extending the length of the ground and per the blog (SCG Development - Construction) they started that in September, and it probably went into October (see also: webcam SCG Development - Webcam)

On the 5pm edition of the news on Monday (or Tuesday) C10 were covering the Pup-Ponting bitch fight and they said "the ex-captain and captain (blah blah blah)" and the people on the screen were Clarke and Smitteh. come 11pm they fixed it up and Ponting was there instead of Smith, but what a moment it was.

Also noticed during the news: Warner bowling medium pace in the nets. Smitteh's ruined his leg-spinning career.
