The following NSW quicks are currently unavailable due to injury:

Doug Bollinger
Stuart Clark
Mark Cameron
Mitchell Starc
Josh Hazelwood
Moises Henriques
Burt ****ley

There might be a couple I've forgotten, too. Coyte is crap and I would've definitely considered playing Bills ahead of him but there's a good reason he's playing (this time).
Reckon Coyte playing might have a bit to do with his ability to hold a bat as well, it's a long tail with Copeland/Bills/Cummins. Copeland can seriously bat, though - just waiting for him to show it at FC level.

Yeah, in the end I probably would've played Coyte as well for that reason.

Copeland did score a fifty for us this season but he's usually looked god-awful. Disappointing as, IIRC, he averaged 20+ in grade cricket.

Yeah exactly. Not much to split Coyte and Bills so his batting and a couple of games more experience probably got him over the line.

In grade Copeland always looked a good bat - have played him a few times and he scored an 80 odd against us one match, plus a few in another from memory. Always looked pretty handy at the crease but watching him so far today looks like his batting might have declined as his bowling has improved.

Butterworth > Hilfenhaus (bowling only).

Discuss.
Haha I sent Fox Sports an email basically saying that. He's certainly sent down better stuff across the course of this summer and he's a much more valuable Shield player overall. The fact that he genuinely does swing it both ways makes up for the pace difference IMO. Butterworth needs favourable conditions to be effective but lets face it, so does Hilf, and I reckon Butters is the better of the two when those conditions materialise.

For some reason Butterworth isnt rated dunno why. He has the chance to score a 2nd Shield final ton too

I think a lot of it has to do with the fact that most fans see a lot more T20 and one day cricket than they do First Class cricket, and he's been a prank-player in limited overs. He's pretty unfashionable as well in that he bowls mid 120s and bats down the order. Very good Shield player though; he's been really good with the ball for two or three seasons now.

Not buying that Butterworth is a better bowler at all if we're talking about him as an international proposition. Butterworth has been immense this season on some pretty favourable home decks and Hilf, before the last few games of the Shield season, has had to find his form for international matches in international matches. That's a massive ask and I'm not surprised to see him bowling pretty average stuff of late, confidence must be shot.

At their best, would take Hilf every time unless the team seriously needed the batting. Lack of pace would still be a massive issue in Tests, tbh.

EDIT: Definitely not in favour of Hilf either though. But, between the two, the difference in their bowling is pretty stark for mine.

(Y).

400/8 off 117. Rohrer still there. Hopefully he can cut loose if they're still going after lunch.

Scratch that. Rohrer going nuts aws. Copeland gone - 9/430 (119.2). Thirty runs in just over two overs. nice.

All out 440. Would take that, having been sent in, though the pitch was plainly better than a lot in Hobart this summer.

Such an awesome prospect this kid. Younger than me and beating opening bats in his first over of a shield final.

Wow, Copeland really isn't all that quick is he. We had a guy come over from Sydney play for us at the back end of this season who has played quite abit of first grade cricket against Copeland and he told me he wouldn't be much quicker then me. I honestly didn't believe him but geez, maybe he was right. I'm really interested in seeing him bowl now though, he must have some awesome control.
