McDonald has taken 5/68 from 25 overs.

I think he's certainly done enough to be selected in the squad to South Africa.

I think McDonald is a terrific number 7 option in the Test Side. Just not sure if the selectors will want Haddin in at 6.
They'll just bat Macca at 6 (like in Sydney) - but effectively the pressure would be on Haddin to be scoring the runs a number 6 needs to score!!

They probably think Mitch will give them 25-30 on average - and with Hauritz picking up 4-fer, no doubt he'll get picked now. So Macca gets the spot too!

BARNES OUT
Gotta feel sorry for Geeves. Two 99 not outs this season, McDonald has been the unfortunate guy who's gotten out both times now.
Haha why do people always do this on CW. 5 posts previous make all these points, then someone just strolls in and completely repeats them. pup does it all the time, so infuriating.

Cause it took me a few minutes to write that one sentence as I was doing something else at the same time. Didn't think anyone would mind all that much, will delete for your piece of mind though.

ALSO - If I had of written AWTA it would have served the same purpose, plus I made the comment that it was both in the same season. Perhaps no one else knew this.

I think it'd be a surprise if Hughes didn't get Hayden's spot for the SA tour at this point. If Jaques made a vaguely decent comeback score here he'd have had the spot, but two failures plus two big innings from Hughes means he has to get it.

Can't see Rogers getting the gig.

Looks like dual centuries from Hughes, what a guy, can't remember the last time Australia produced such an exciting talent, we definitely should take a risk and pick him. At the beginning of the summer I'd have had Jaques in, but now not so considering he's just back, still a bit stiff and needs form. Probably give him the winter to get some solid domestic cricket in during last few months of the Australian season and beginning of the English season. If he's in form, then take him to England with Hughes, let Jaques and Katich open, and Hughes bat at 6.
