How good was that finish? A battle to make the final, and it came down to the last session of the match.

Go Vics.

I only saw him in the one ING game, but I thought he looked really good. Very simple action, great accuracy and some seam movement. Had the air of a shorter McGrath.

Lacks a bit in pace though, so I guess we'll see how he develops.
good to hear..

Good to see Dizzy finishing the season well, all he needs now is to bowl well for Yorshire in the coming county season & get back into the international side, since DEFINATELY in the next 2-3 with Australia's ast bowling stocks looking a bit dull atm the selectors would be stupid not to have in back in the side by the time the ashes starts.

I really hope Lewis bowls well in the final. I`d let him open the bowling with Denton and then have Harwood at first change.

I'd have Harwood and Lewis opening they'd be our best two bowler, Harwood is the fastest bowler in Australia apart from Tait and Lee. Victoria have 3 very good pace bowlers and with the absence of Kasper from the QLD team on a pitch which is usually a greentop i'll back us for the win.

Same, but Harwood seems to be happy bowling first change, and has done a lot of this season. Denton also uses the new-ball extremely well. That`s what I think will happen anyway. :)

yeah wouldnt matter a whole lot, hopefully Wise gets selected he was pretty stiff to get dropped after his extremely good early season form. I believe the final will be decided on the batsmen though, if the vics batsmen fire they should win but if they struggle like they did at the end of the season its game over.

End of the season? Like the last match where they chased down a big total? :p

Jokes mate, I know what you mean.

I'd be very confident in either one of Kaspa or Dizzy taking Lewis' place in the ODI side. I'd lean towards Gillespie with his better batting ability.

I wish we got coverage of the Aussie Leagues here in the UK. We get Aussie Rugby League, NZ Rugby League and even Aussie rules football but no cricket

Be an interesting final. Not sure if Vic has the batting strength, but the simple fact is that they might have enough firepower to bowl out QLD twice on a Gabba wicket. It'll be interesting to see what sort of wicket is prepared, after last year's match where it was all over far too quickly...

Just noticed this article

To summarise, for those who don't want to read the whole thing.

"Fifteen of Australia's most promising young cricketers have been chosen to be part of the elite 2006 Australian Institute of Sport (AIS) men's program at the Commonwealth Bank Centre of Excellence (CBCE)."

"Nominated by the States and handpicked by the National Selection Panel (NSP), the 15 players are: Doug Bollinger (NSW) Daniel Doran (Qld), Cullen Bailey (SA), Callum Ferguson (SA), George Bailey (Tas), Ben Hilfenhaus, (Tas), Tim Paine (Tas), Adam Crosthwaite (Vic), Aaron Finch (Vic), Peter Siddle (Vic), Beau Casson (WA) , Brett Dorey (WA), Ben Edmondson (WA), Shaun Marsh (WA), Adam Voges (WA)."

“It’s important to note we also had some other players in the picture for this year’s intake, including the likes of Dan Cullen, Mitchell Johnson, Shaun Tait, and Mark Cosgrove."

Lacks a bit of credibility without Tait, Cosgrove or Cullen, but it should be interesting to see if it helps their careers at all. Happy to see Beau Casson in there, and interesting to note there's only one NSW player (Bollinger) in the 15.

Last year the curator did not have much choice on what the pitch would favour. It rained for about a week beforet he game and a fair bit of the morning of the first day.

Who & who?
Henriques, the captain of the U-19 side who has played a couple of ING games for NSW. The leading wicket taker in the WC, and had a pretty good time with the bat there too. Going into the last game I think he was averaging 50 with the bat and 9 with the ball.

Cooper, who was the leading batsman for Australia in the U-19 WC. Scored a century against South Africa, I think.
