James hopes has done F* all with bat and ball all season,so why would the australian selectors pick him for the one day squad, the last noteable innings hopes has played was when he scored a 100 against pakistan A in september this year 4 months ago.
My thoughts are we will either keep white, skip the allrounder or bring back watson who will be back mid january.
Exactly. Bugger Hopes. You've already got Symonds in the ODI team and use of the supersub means All-Rounder isn't 100% required. White can bat aswell and I'm just hoping Lewis keeps his place.

On form, Hopes doesn't deserve his place. Equally, neither do White - who Ponting clearly has very little confidence in - or Lewis.

Lewis and White in poor form??

Go look at Cricinfo for a while.

Im talking about ODI's obviously.

I dont think either, at this stage, is up to it.

White probably not, if yes moreso as a batting allrounder because his bowling has looked VERY nervous and I'm pretty confident in Lewis playing in Australian conditions.

Hopes has been injured. When he hasn't been injured he's had scores of 70 odd and 50, with economical bowling and a few wickets here and there, not exactly poor form.

That was before he was injured and 1 score,he got a 40 in the ing game but didn't go on with it,hopes season has been weak when compared to past seasons.i even question if australia will pick an allrounder for the VB series, they could stick with white as hopes has done little,as white has been promising and has had little opportunity so far.For me i would pick a 14 man squad include jaques, and pick lewis or gillespie as the 5th pacemen in the squad and dump white. But remember its harder to get in the aussie squad than it is out of the squad. But really we have used the super sub sparingly even if hopes got selected he may not actually do much.

The thing with Hopes is, as opposed to Cameron White, he can actually bowl.

If he was to be the supersub, he would certainly bowl, considering the fact that Symonds usually bowls and Hopes is a far better bowler.

White CAN bowl he's just not ready for international stage yet and been given limited opportunity as was pointed out which probably is a big kick in the backside of his confidence because it outlines the captain has no trust in him.

Would you not also find it difficult to find your rhythm in a situation like that with millions of prying eyes watching you?? I know I would.

White's bowling record in domestic one dayers is far inferior to hopes. And that's with white getting to pick and choose when he wants himself to bowl!

You really can't have White and Hogg in the same squad, Hopes offers more variety than Cameron White, he can open the batting, bat in the middle order and is a far better bowler than White. He hit 77 and 2-60 last night, so he is far from out of form.

Hopes is a better opinion then White, either White or Hogg will get dropped when some of the players that missed the NZ Series come back. I can't see any reason to drop Hopes and retain both White and Hogg.

White certainly doesn't "parachute in" for wickets on the back of his captaincy, that's one thing that you definently can't accuse him of.

If anything, he underbowls himself in FC cricket, and brings himself on at tough times in OD cricket.

Hogg took 2 for in 1 game not in trouble of being dropped unless he doesn't perform, daniel cullen is the 1 for hoggy to watch.

Agreed.

just my views on White & Hopes. Hopes should definately be in the team for the VB series cant see how he wont & as someone said it wont make sense having both White & Hogg in the same team. Hogg should be the main spinner in ODI's up to the WC since Warne definately wont be playing then & also he adds variety.

Pretty incredible. Good luck to him, he looks very promising, despite the crazy name.
