Bhuvi always been a better bowler with new ball than at death. If India plays 3+1 pace and spin combo, Shami should do late over duties with Bumrah.

I think playing both Pant and Dhoni is the only option left for India now. Masks the weakness of one with the gloves and slightly compensates the weakness of one with the bat.

Or genetically modify them into one cricket player

Wouldn’t start Khawaja at the WC tbh. Would open with Finch, play Wade at three, Smith four, Maxwell five, Stoinis six and somone like Turner who basically just slogs them at seven. Uzzie has been good this series, but I don’t think that going at five rpo in the power plays is going to cut it at this WC.

Darsh has actually been very good the past year or two in ODIs as well, so I dunno what they do, balance-wise. It’s actually not a bad problem to have I suppose. Would
Happily leave Handscomb out because he’s Victorian, and there’s far too many of them in the line up as it is.

You don’t have two good games and deserve a spot in a full strength side after being trash for your entire LO career, which is what Khawaja and Handscomb have done.

I think Smith potentially is a bit of an insurance policy of the ball is doing a bit in English conditions. If they lose a couple early, he's pretty handy to have coming in to consolidate.

Handscomb to keep in the WC is a genuine possibility. Too many bats that have performed recently to leave one out for a spud like Carey if you don't have to. How good would a Stoinis/Turner at no. 7 be?

Still want Wade to open or bat three tbh. I know it’s tough on one of Darsh or The Pillow, but I don’t reckon Australia can carry Smith and one of them at three and four. They need blokes who stonk it around from the get-go with one guy going at a run a ball or so as Root does for England. Otherwise they’ll end up consistently 30-50 runs short.

That was a really enjoyable ODI to watch last night. So many highs and lows throughout it. Kohli getting grumpy at DRS ball tracking a particular highlight.

He hasn't got a 50 in a while. Probably why he was so annoyed Smarsh casually ran him out for 47 last game

Obviously he's been very vital to the team with a few fast 40s, wickets and a ton of great catches, but just by his batting numbers his output might look shaky

Wow, I will be very happy if this happens. Increases the chances of other teams multifold. Maxwell is one player who induces fear to opposition teams on any daunting target chase.

If Maxwell gets dropped, that would probably be the worst selectoral decision of all-time. He's clearly the best option for the role Australia want him to play (i.e. someone that can go nuts after 30-35 overs), is an awesome fielder and a handy 5/6th option to boot.

Finch definitely needs to turn it around to be secure for the World Cup, yeah. One thing that might save him is the lack of a good captaincy alternative. We'll see how well he does in the UAE I guess.
