Warne takes the last wicket and finishes with 10 for the match.
Australia win by 27 but what a great test match.

Go Aussies! They manage to avoid another subcontinent nightmare. :cool2:

Even though Jayasuria's century was great, it was Vaas and Murali that almost won them this match. Dyson's prediction that they could chase down 325 was almost spot-on.

Another five wicket haul for Warnie - the contest between Murali and he in this series is an absolute shootout. At this stage, Warne's figures are better, but who knows what will happen.

The fact that Australia have now won the series has probably earned Symonds a third test, I'm guessing. Hope he makes something of the opportunity - he's a better player than he's shown so far.

What a finish.....and I missed it! I had to go mining this morning, made sure I was home before 3pm to get on the net.......and I fell asleep on the couch.:(

Well done to the Sri Lankans for making a fight for the Aussies and Warnie for getting another 10 wicket haul..20 wickets for the series now?:D

What about Warnie? 4 innings back hes's got 5-for, 5-for, 5-for and 5-for. When did this last happen
I don't think it has happened to him.......but for this to happen after a year off....he's back to his magic best, I reckon.:D

9 more and Warnie is the greatest wicket taker ever.....until Murali catches up!

I found more info on the Kasprowicz decision. Apparently, per Ponting's edict, Kaspa DID walk, but Bucknor motioned him back, and called for the third umpire.

Just like about all these referrals, the third umpire was unable to reach a conclusive decision, and gave Kasprowicz not out.

Now I realise that technically, Bucknor has to respond to the appeal and give the batsman out in order to complete the dismissal, but this seems the latest in a string of erratic decisions from the man. Surely he must have known that the third umpire almost never gives these decisions out - the Sri Lankans were sure they had him, and the batsman was happy to walk, so does he really need to intervene in that process? I don't know.
As far as I am concerned if you walk, the umpire shouldnt have the power to call you back.

On this Test, the dismissal of Dilshan cost SRL this Test. But a good fightback.

Murali and Warne each have 20 wickets.

Will Katich play the next Test? Probably not as Symonds is mates with Ponting. What does it mean to be a Ponting favourite.

Oh give it up already.

People say the match was lost when Jayasuriya went out, others say when Dilshan went out but I am convinced that Vaas could have taken them home had he kept his head. He was slogging and that was okay until he hit it straight to Symonds, however he was dropped. That should of been enough of a hint to play sensibly. That doesn't mean go on the defensive it just means don't go trying to hit Warne for 4 every ball. I still think Vaas' mistake cost Sri Lanka the game, that and Warne's brilliance.

Oh well another chance to win thrown away by the Sri Lankans but Jayasuriya's innings was great to watch.

I certainly hope this is not the case.

Even the most ardent Queenslander would have to agree that Symonds' performances have been poor so far, and Katich has done nothing wrong.

Even if you look to his bowling as a justification for his selection over Katich it's still looks dodgy - his medium pace has been hardly used and inneffective and I don't think his spinners offer as much as Katich's in the test arena.

He's gotta go.

From Roebuck's column today in the Melbourne Age (written at the end of the fourth day):

"Among the Australians, Michael Kasprowicz was the most dangerous and Stuart MacGill was the pick of the spinners. Jason Gillespie unleashed his fastest spell in an unproductive series. Andrew Symonds's mediums were unthreatening but he had batted calmly before losing his wicket to a speculative decision."

MacGill was the pick of the spinners? I have him wicketless for the match, and going for 69 off 12 overs in Sri Lanka's second dig.

Roebuck writes some amazing things sometimes. Maybe he was drunk.

I see in the 3 months I've been away the "voice of reason" hasn't left.

Get over it. Murali's action has been deemed legal, whereas Shane's mum.....

Unless, of course, you are talking about Murali's eyes, in which case I agree with you.

He is either Franz Anton Mesmer reincarnate or those two white circles the Mysteron projects at the start of 'Captain Scarlet'.

Scary.

DAMMIT.......i guess i jinxed him or something......ohhhh well......was a good fight!

I was supporting SL too but they lost :( Yday I had no doubt that they'd win. But I am happy they came so close to winning and tried so hard. Jayasurya's innings was awesome. But the Australians were too strong in the end. Well done Warne. Oh well......

Australia come to India in October and will get thrashed.
