Apply your theory to the 'great' Darren Gough and I think you will find he is inconsistent.
Who ever mentioned Gough? You're the only one who mentioned him.

Highly overrated and an inconsistent (wickets and fitness wise) bowler. According to you he should be no better than Vaas.
I've not evem mentioned him until now, but if you really want to compare them then OK.
In Tests, they have the same number of wickets, but the difference is Gough averages 28.39 compared with Vaas' 30.12.
Also, Gough has played 13 matches less.
In ODI's, Gough's got 188 wickets in 121 matches @ 24.96, Vaas has 288 in 230 @ 27.01
So if Gough is overrated, what is Vaas (note that the only one who mentioned Gough in this thread is you)

And also he hasn't performed consistently in the pressure situation i.e. the World Cup tournament 2003 where Vaas got 18 odd wickets.
18 wickets yes, but look a bit closer:
0-22 vs NZ
6-25 vs Ban
3-15 vs Can
3-41 vs Ken
4-22 vs WI
0-33 vs SA
0-59 vs Aus
2-34 vs Ind
2-46 vs Zim
3-34 vs Aus
OK, so someone has to take the wickets against the weaker sides, but what happened when he got to the pressure games against the big sides - not so hot then was he - in fact that Tournament seems to add to the inconsistent claims.

I recall Master Gough is too tied up with fitness problems to partake in this tournament?
He was injured yes, and that is a reason to criticise him now is it?

So just before you criticise Vaas apply your theory to Gough
and tell me a little about him.
Well, you brought him into the equation, and I think I've shown he's got a much better record over his career in either format, so why exactly did you bring him in?
