I think he must have decided he needed to bat like Aus did on that first day especially, but Smith and Khawaja were way more thoughtful with the way they attacked and only selectively tried to run down the pitch to whack the ball over the bowler's head. It's the Lehmann-Clarke approach to batting against spin

Where do you think Kamindu's average will eventually stabilise at? He clearly has real talent, you can see he's got more time at the crease than most. Sri Lanka won the toss and batted 1st in both the tests against New Zealand. They utilised the conditions at their easiest and made the most of it. This match they couldn't do that and have been exposed. No fight, junk performance all around.

I think you can see a small downwards deflection as the ball passes the midpoint of the bat

Yeah white ball cricket has killed him. I know it's the best way to make a living while Lyon's still the primary spinner, but I'd want him focusing purely on FC cricket for the next 12 months.
