Thing is, between the dismissals, they've been alright. Warner and Smith looked confident this morning and the Aussies have been reasonable at putting away any loose bowling. They're playing like they think one with their name on it is right around the corner, though. The one with their name on it doesn't have to be a good ball either, just not an outright loose one.

Migara must be very happy as he has sung the praises of dilruwan on here for a long time and has been proved absolutely correct. Great match for the lad.

I don't think it's particularly good though. We need better batting, not more. You can add another one at 8 and yeah we're probably coming out a bit better, but it's on the top 5.
I don't disagree, but what change do you make to the top 5?

I'd call up Jarryd Hayne to bat six in the next test and bowl some cutters.

If that doesn't work he can turn on a stink.

I don't think there's any doubt that SL are the undisputed number 1 in terms of close in fielding to the spinners. They're insanely good.

Absolutely. And Warner is a great embodiment of the thinking and the culture of this team. He is brilliant in so many ways, yet there has been an absolute refusal for him to respect these conditions, respect the opposition and try to adapt his game accordingly. His batting is based on the obdurate stance "that's the way I play..my way or highway"
And it's reflected in the body language, it's reflected in Lyon's jibe, it's reflected in TJB's complaints about the pitches. They hate these conditions, they don't really wanna be here. And you can't really learn and improve something you don't enjoy. Even Lehman remarked once that it's 'just' the subcontinent where they are poor.
Well tbf I've never had any desire to go there either. Then again, half my career isn't meant to be spent there.

Congratulations Sri Lanka on a thoroughly deserved series win. This shows great character to come back from getting smashed in series after series to face the#1team in test cricket and win so convincingly..as a fan all I want is for my team to show bottle and if we win, fantastic but if we lose,at least we go down fighting..fantastic match for Dilruwan well done to him with both bat and ball. Also well done to Starc who has shown his class- it isn't an easy job being a fast bowler in or conditions and he had been great. Now we must focus on winning the next match for a clean sweep. For me it's a tough one as the old adage is don't change a winning team, but our openers are simply not doing the job..anyway,enjoy the win boys, well done Sri Lanka!!!
Edit- forgot to mention another excellent innings from Kusal Mendis, I am starting expect those from the youngster now!

Exactly. Smarsh might make a difference, but that's iffy and there's not much after that.

I'd like Moz at 6 not so much as it gives 'more' batting, but he should add something to our top 6 whilst still providing a very handy pace option in these conditions. With that then the question is drop Mmarsh (the more obvious option) or Holland? I'm more inclined to give Holland another crack, but maybe that's because I'm a softy. It's hard to argue that Mmarsh at 8 isn't more likely to provide something for the side than Holland, so maybe that would be the better way to go even though I hate bringing a guy in to debut in tough conditions and then dropping them when players with much more experience have let the side down more.

Obviously our batting is a massive problem but when was the last time Oz played 2 spinners and it actually worked?

Well done SL

They were in the cellar a couple of weeks ago and have bounced back really well
