This has been quality from Starc pretty much all game so far. Most consistent test performance I can recall from him so far. Good to see.

Usual moan about Umpire's Call on DRS when half the ball is hitting the stumps.

Grumble grumble.

Just because Dan Jameson had me curious, if Voges scored 5 ducks in a row in his next 5 innings he'd still average a tick over 60 and obviously you'd have to drop him if he was in that kind of slump and probably never pick him again

There's nearly no chance Voges won't end up with the second best batting average of all time (min 20 innings)

This reminded me of your topic on the curious case of Vinod Kambli

I'm not convinced that ducks in 5 innings gets him dropped. Other than "why the **** not?" Shaun Marsh, who would they call up?

The point stands though, he'll almost certainly average over 60, explaining that he's not that good to the next generation is gonna be a pain.

haha I really am fascinated by situations like this where someone has an insanely good start to their career like Kambli, Adams, Hussey and now Voges

Look what happens when they keep someone in the side after their use by date and allow their average to slowly drop (Jimmy Adams) they're remembered as a completey **** batsman.

haha surely 5 ducks in a row would be enough to get most people dropped who aren't captains or legends. Voges isn't seen as that valuable IMO

they could either blood Jake Lehmann young or try to replicate the Voges situation with a brief 10 test career for Michael Klinger

Get Voges back to a road and he'll start making 260* on a regular basis again

Just remind them back in the 2010s when test match cricket was in its death throes that there used to be a team called the West Indies

Mike Hussey stands out from that list as being a very good test batsmen.
