I remained baffled at the Aussie (non-)use of the allrounders, especially with Silva at the crease.

Shaping up to be a cracking chase this. Thoughts on the lead for SL to poke their noses in front as favourites? 220 enough in this track & are there signs of the deck deteriorating yet?

They're in front now tbh. The pressure Australia will be under when Warner goes for 13(5) will start the rot

dave warner has scored 95@19, but imo the real issue is he's striking at 105.55

he's placing no value on his wicket... shaun marsh and steve smith showed placing value on your wicket is top priority and runs will come. warner's cricket this series has been deplorable

Mathews is in a bit of a horror run by his standards right now isn't he? Pleased that Silva is getting runs though.
Yup, you ****s on CW to blame bigging him up so much a couple of years back. Last 12 months (12 tests) he's going at 33 with bat & 49 with ball. Not flash at all.

I think he's really trying to force the issue more than usual when usually he can rely on the pace to simply tap it wherever he wants and it'll go zooming away for runs.

Maybe i'll have to rewatch it but I don't recall him being this absolutely hapless in the UAE.

Tough for a Warner/Sehwag type player to change at the drop of a hat though, so much success playing their natural games to suddenly change when conditions are more foreign for them. Never forget what a fish out of water Sehwag looked on those green tracks in NZ in 2002.

yeah imo it's a case of the intent stereotype but gone too far

thinking that the best way to unsettle the spinners is to take them downtown, but he isn't changing gears when he needs to - not respecting the skill and the guile of herath and co, playing them as he would on aus pitches - he did it with ali in the ashes as well, he goes for the big shot once too many alarmingly often

imo this isn't his natural game though it's an overcompensation

when he is playing his natural game he's one of the sweetest timers in world cricket - here he is basically slogging with no thought at all

True, but being able to do so is a mark of a great player

Silva has done well for himself here. must have been on the chopping block, karunarararara on the otherhand might have earned a drop especially after todays careless dismissal
