Pretty laughable that there are two umpire's calls there.
Yeah I thought they fixed the margins? Or has that not come into play yet?

Hard to imagine how a ball that is hitting the middle of the stump, or hit in line with the exact middle of the stump could be umpire's call

Yeah I don't think that comes into play until September.

This (Bairstow vs Lanka) basically forced them to look at it. iirc they made a recommendation to change the umpires call to 25%, which is still kinda dumb.

The problem is the margins are based on not causing umpire embarrassment rather than on the scientific accuracy of the equipment/system being used.... and all that the new margins are doing is reducing the umpires call rather than showing the accuracy of the equipment.

Just move that black line to the outside of the stump rather than the middle. Would solve the concerns immediately, have been saying it for years.

Australian selectors need to pick Sam Whiteman. He is just as skillful a keeper as Nevill and definitely a better bat. It is like the tail starts from seven every time Nevill walks out there to bat.

Noted Yorkshireman Sam Whiteman has a pretty mediocre first class record compared to Nevill, so whats the thinking behind 'definitely'?

His record is decidedly better as a keeper batting seven than his overall record which includes a failed earlier stint as a young top order batsman for a season.

I don't think it's silly to suggest Whiteman is a better batsman than Nevill.. in fact I think it's probably true. I just think it's too marginal a call to outweigh the bigger and less debatable difference in glovework.

Imagine if we did 'umpire's call' for run outs.

Only have to be within 5cm of the line to be given not out. Being shown not to have got over it is irrelevant.

Well from watching both bat. I would be more confident in Whiteman making the step up than Nevill. I think Nevill is a very limited batsman. It is important to note not every player with a good first class record will necessarily have a good test record.

I do not think its a stretch to argue that Sam Whiteman is definitely a better bat than Nevill.
I think it is a stretch to say Sam Whiteman has a mediocre record compared to Nevill.

Wasn't the best leave ever.

Harsh. Was only made a bad leave by how far she bent back, personally. Thats exactly the tension your lefties play on and guys with Starc's wheels give you zero chance to adjust even with a miscalculation. Sensational ball.

Two umpires calls should make it a not out.
I can't tell if this post is a joke or not.

Yeah ofc but it always looks amusing when you get hit right in front with your bat up over your shoulder.

I am not particularly commenting on the above dismissals. As a rule when two or more boxes ticks as umpires call then it should be given not out. because of too much doubt. Even at a level of 60% certainity, two umpire's calls means 36%. At 80% of certainty, two calls means 64%.
