The process really isn't fast enough for the 3rd ump to go over most appeals before the next ball is bowled IMO. Leave it with the players.

I know Imran Tahir isn't any Shane Warne but surely by the 20th over there is a good case to be made for spin if your pacers are being smashed at 5 runs an over in a test match?

wrong thread so this is the last one for me, but blind freddy could see that was worth a replay, and after a quick replay a closer look. They have earpieces and such.
Don't blame the ump for not giving it, they are a bastard to pick, and was near the pad. He'd be thinking probably out but I have doubt. Right decision. Shouldn't be up to Smith wherever he is in the field to work out how much doubt.

the pacers aren't going great guns so far so might as well give them a change of pace. Have a feeling Tahir will take some wickets this matchYes but all 4 of those wickets were tailenders

If he eventually makes it as a successful test regular, it'll go down as some kind of feat to have basically gone about rebuilding an entire technique while playing at the highest level.
He still has much to do, of course, but he's now back and across, not back and away. Just too chest on in back foot defense. If he fixes that he could be a very formidable player.
