And this is pretty much what I'm saying, the only additional thing being that when you look at scores like 430+, you have to realize that under such condtions - flat pitch, fast outfield, batsman-friendly conditions, crap bowling - it's not that unbelievable, and that a few teams would come close to scoring 400. Therefore, I'd say not "best batting ever", just "pretty awesome batting".Jono said:Yeah I agree. Firstly and most obviously the pitch was flat. On top of that the ground was small, the outfield was amazingly fast, the bowling quality was garbage, the conditions were batsman friendly with no cloud cover, it was a day match etc. etc.
It just all combined, along with some awesome batting displays, to equate to an amazing high scoring match.
For sure, man - damn awesome batting! All of those factors came into alignment. I liked Barry Richards' comment: "Geez, in ten years time, a team won't be safe with 600".Isolator said:And this is pretty much what I'm saying, the only additional thing being that when you look at scores like 430+, you have to realize that under such condtions - flat pitch, fast outfield, batsman-friendly conditions, crap bowling - it's not that unbelievable, and that a few teams would come close to scoring 400. It's well worth it, mate. I got the three-pack Ashes DVD series. It's pretty damn good.BlackCap_Fan said:On the subject of DVDs, I better buy the Ashes one soon...
I agree - it's like a team going to Stamford Bridge to play Chelsea, going 10-0 down at half-time and then coming back to win in the last minute. It's insane.Richard said:This has to be the biggest freak in the history of sport, never mind cricket.

Prince is vice captainTT Boy said:South Africa Test squad: G Smith (capt), M Boucher (wkt), N Boje, AB de Villiers, H Dippenaar, H Gibbs, A Hall, J Kallis, G Kruger, A Nel, M Ntini, S Pollock, A Prince, J Rudolph.
How many test comebacks is Dippenaar going to have. His a good ODI player but his had enough goes at test cricket and not performed. Andrew Hall selection is a no brainier another series, another return, expect him to be dropped from the squad after the first test match, Prince and Rudolph are walking on thin ice and Kruger, the bloke is useless, not in Mick Lewis's ball park but nevertheless. Also good to see the Justin Kemp test experiment has ended.
