Economy for bowlers for the full series, of those playing today...
Lewis - 7.65
Symonds - 7.06
Lee - 6.26
Clarke - 6.16
Bracken - 4.64

Says it all, really. And as much as he looks like an American high school jock with one too many doses of botox in his chin, you have to take your hat off to Bracken's bowling today.

You are preaching to the choir, pontings captiancy in the ashes was one of the reasons we lost. he is a pathetic captian. I thought he was improving but today he relapsed.
Yes indeed (sorry if it sounds as though I'm having a go at you - I'm not).

The biggest problem today was that, after Bracken (who bowled superbly) there was no-one else who stood up. Lewis was shot after 5 overs - that first one where he went for 18 had him looking for a hole, yet to his credit he came back with a good one that only went for four, and this with Gibbs and De Villiers in full flow. From that point on, every time the skipper brought him back into the firing-line, the South Africans teed off on him. It was like watching Jason Gillespie all over again. I think we'll nerver see him again.

It's criminal though when, in a game that goes the distance, you do not give your No 1 bowler his full complement. Lee bowled 8 overs.

Mick Lewis - the new Hansie Cronje? His performance was ever so slightly suspicious. Discuss.

Edit: Of course, Ponting is in league with him. Who else would give him 10?

Sky had better show highlights of this.
Highlights are continuing right now, 51 minutes after the cricket was meant to close up. Day four highlights of the Ind v Eng test are due on at 5pm to 8pm, and I wouldn't be surprised if they have some more on during that period.

I'd expect the Aussie selectors to call it a freak game (which it was, even the South African side were saying that) and keep him in for another go. I hope he does averagely enough to stay in the fringe of the side and then gets back in just in time to do a really, really crap display against New Zealand when we next play Aussie. :)

Neil - tomorrow there will be highlights on Sky Sports at two different times, once at noon (Sky Sports 2) and once again later on in the day, missed the time of it though.

Murali asked Ponting if he knew anyone crap enough to get more than 99 runs in 10 overs.

Ponting immediately thought of Lewis, and figured that with 434 on the board he could ensure Lewis bowls 10, gets smacked for 100 of them and Australia still win the game.

He forgot about the other garbage bowlers too

Not just today, its about time he's recognised by all as one of the best ODI bowlers going around. I'd honestly rate him higher than Lee when it comes to consistency. You know what you're going to get with Bracken, and if the batsman get on top of him then so be it, but at least he'll get the ball in the right areas and try everything at his disposal.

Lee is just a gamble.

For a long time I've tried to deny that Bracken is actually that good in the limited overs game, and just waited for his record to worsen. But it hasn't for over a few years now (granted with a break in between) and I've just come to accept it... someone with that hairstyle can still be a good cricketer.
