The other bloke Lewis, looks like the new Rikki Clarke.. I know Lewis can't bat, but neither could Rikki
Are you suggesting that he can't bowl either?

/runs before Neil comes in

LOL! Love your work Rich. Part-time bowlers

In all seriousness, this is exactly what I expected from Australia when I saw the named squad, and that was when Stuart Clark was fit. Now with Mitch Johnson playing, you just have to wonder what the hell is going through the selector's minds. Just seeing Tait bowl like he did yesterday makes me think that he had to be in the squad if Dizzy wasn't going to be. Honestly I know he came out and said that he's not 100% yet (he looked it today though!), but an 60% Tait right now is a better option that Mitch Johnson. This is plain rubbish, and win or lose today (it should be a win though) I'd back SA to take the ODI series here (I have some money on it too, and I haven't won a sports bet in a while :().

Australia are missing Symonds and Ponting which hurt them with the batting, and will soon hurt them in the bowling department (Symonds > Johnson right now) but even with their return, and Stuart Clarks, its going to be countered by Nel and Ntini continuing to improve post-injury gaining more match practice (Ntini was good today anyway). Pollock looked fine today as well, so his injury may not be as bad as one thought.

Obviously Australia are never out of a series, or currently not even out of this match but gee, but a lot rests on their batting this series IMO. A lot more than usual.

Okay, so WHY was AB sent home after the tests?
He's always had the potential in ODIs, but Dipennar is the better opener and they never had a slot for him in the middle order due to his failures in the past. Hopefully he makes use of his talent now though, he's playing beautifully. :)

yes.. and i loved the fact that Johnson is getting smashed.. along with Mick Lewis..
now where is Dizzy??
Johnson, I can handle - young and has played virtually no cricket BUT has real talent and should (and will) be peservered with.

Lewis is one of the worst bowlers Ive seen play for Aus in many, many years. Not quick, inaccurate, no movement and over 30.

BTW, Tait looked so much better that Dizzy today that it wasnt funny.

Looking at the runs conceded, I thought that you'd nationalised Jon Lewis. Then I looked at the wickets column and realised that you hadn't.

Does the rain look set?

SA look to be way ahead on D/L
Its kicking off again in a moment, should be pretty straightforward stuff for South Africa.

well even though Australia will lose today via D/L or if SA get the runs, hopefully Punter, Symo & Clark are fit and ready for the remainder of the series since this series is going to be close & Australia need their best team on the park.

On Mitchell Johnson its the 1st time i've seen him bowl & well their is somethign to work within the future but the should not have gone on this tour following how Tait bowled this morning its disappointing he isn't there, Johnson needs to be back in domestic cricket trying to prove himself on the international stage, but for Australia sake hopefully he does do well for queensland in the coming years & earns his place in the side because the thought of a quick left-arm bowler is pretty good.

I know Smith was plumb to Lee early on but he has played a cracking innings in complete an utter control, hopefully he can carry his bat home.

I thought the kid was not to bad, good lick, nice action but his length was all wrong.

What part of the Hoggard role can he perform then?
does he have to perform that role?, the way he is bowling now he would be better off that Hoggard if he was english, and has i have said before if Lee were english knowing how fletcher is even back in the days when Lee was a very erratic test bowler its not as if england had much better options in the pace bowling department pre 2004 other than Caddick or Gough, so Lee would have been a definite fixture.

Shane Watson has had one hell of a stinker today, I really rate the kid but his fielding, his batting and now bowling has been frankly awful.

The strength of the England bowling 'machine' when it was well oiled in 2005 was that there were four completely different components - that's the point that Marc appeared to be making. The only person Lee could have come in for on a 'like for like' basis would have been Steve Harmison.
