Making T20s only domestic would be amazing but there's a lot of money to be made from bilateral T20Is so it'd never happen. Even on a performance level I'm sure national teams would want to be able to figure out their team structures before the World T20 actually rolled around too.
Thing is by dropping the T20i's you leave space to make the domestic/franchise more exciting... With an occasional WC were you lead up to it by playing friendlies... already T20i's are at best left as a feeding structure to ODI side/Tests sometimes.

I'd love two divisions if all it did was impose a compulsory FTP set of three-match (or more) series on teams within their own division which the ICC bore the costs of, leaving the option for additional Tests outside that across divisions if they wanted. That could be awesome. Most actual proposals for two divisions if anything go the other way though, giving teams less incentive/compulsion to play Tests and having the ICC financially support them less in doing so. It's something that could really be awesome or terrible depending on the implementation and which interest group managed to capture the process.

There certainly will be those problems encountered that is for sure.

I hate the fact that there is doubt that Sri Lanka and West Indies will ever get close to their peak again for test cricket again. But if they looked after and the game is promoted more then if they in two divisions and they perform to the talent they producing then they should get to the top division. We all know there are the issues around 'some of the big boys' if they deserved to go down to division 2 as well. That will cause so many problems. I think Mikey Holding is right though in that in a test championship there will be teams early on knowing they have no chance of winning. What do they build for next ?

Yup. T20 international cricket is going no where. We can try and fight it but money is what counts these days. It frustrates me in football too.

Really enjoying this chat about where the game of cricket is.

Context for test cricket. Make 2 divisions.
Promote test cricket more
No restrictions for 50 over cricket
Make T20s only domestic

I wish talk of tests been made 2 divisions would die, no side is going to agree to that whatsoever, turkeys etc.

This is pointless batting, Australia are not chasing anything over 300 ffs.

To be honest. It would certainly create more of a spark for teams in division 2 whose cricket has dropped off.

We can moan about the ICC cutting the World Cup to 10 but some of the cricket at the qualifiers, the fight, the need to win brought audiences and great entertainment.

Do I think it will happen ? Probably no. But context will continue to be brought into question.

Has anything been said about how little bowling Mmarsh had done all tour? If he's playing as an AR he needs to actually bowl or the spot can be a batting spot.

What's this horrible Faf waiting for? For the even more horrible Elgar to scratch his way to an even more meaningless century?

Yeah now it's getting to the stage where batting on is a bit pointless.

But for the purposes of the series, a draw and a win means the same thing, so in that sense....

I think Faf is concerned about Morkel's injury and wants to give him some more time? No other real reason to keep going at this stage.

believe it or not there's no law that says a team can't chase down 500
Could say the same about 600, then :p

But there is a rule that says you have only have 5 days to play. As things stand even if Australia batted for the rest of the match they'd still probably fall short of the target. If they're still batting in a hour it's counterproductive. As it is I don't think this will hurt them, but if the boot was on the other foot I'd be wanting to declare.
