Good.

Both could have been on this tour in the first place.

The Bulls need to give Lynn a call to take the game forward.
Tell you what though if turns out to be true. Warner's getting spanked as well with two openers being sent over, which means the rest of that leadership troupe is probably rearing their arses. Chadd Sayers may yet make a debut that ought to have been impossible.

This makes me even more happy.

Someone mentioned this today, but in this context the 5 run penalty feels almost completely meaningless.
Probably, but it's the only in match sanction possible and should be applied in addition to whatever later sanction occurs.

****’s sake, the phone convo with Gillespie is so annoying. He’s bleeding to answer a direct question about Lehmann but they’re studiously avoiding it. If there’s one guy who really knows about his history....
How can you complain when your post is full of innuendo?

Doesn't matter if others do it or not. Really does not matter. This is the same thing that every drug taking athlete says.

To be honest, we are so sanctimonious about spot fixing....not match fixing. All they did was take money for a couple of no balls which barely had an effect on the game. However, its the principle that matters...and the principle was sport is about two teams wanting to play fairly to win. You can't cheat: whether its cheating the game or the spectators.

In the spectrum of cheating, I don't place ball tampering much below spot fixing. They're also cheating, and gaining an unfair advantage, and thus cheating the opposition and the spectators. I'm shocked that the laws of the game only deem this to be a Level 2 offense.

Besides, shouldn't South Africa be entitled to 5 extra runs?
I couldn't disagree with you more. Ball tampering has been part and parcel of the game. The problem here are the laws and the establishment's sanctimonious outlook towards it. For decades it was just the Pakistanis and everyone else were content in calling them cheats because they couldn't match Wasim and Waqar's skill. Now that everyone has picked it up (funnily passed on by Mushtaq Ahmed in county cricket) it's time to re examine the laws and legalise ball tampering. Australia's problem here is they always pretended to the world and deluded themselves that they were better than others and don't cross the line.

Spot fixing and match fixing are the same issue for me. You're gifting the opposition an extra run for money which basically means winning and competing mean nothing to you. Players throw their bodies on the line to save that 1 run. Players have gotten themselves injured to save one run. It's irrelevant how many no balls really. Even one no ball bowled for any reason other than a genuine mistake destroys the integrity of the game where two teams give everything they have to win a match, often by 1 run. Pakistan went into that match
1-2 with a genuine chance of drawing that series. The fact that the 'leadership group' was busy with anything other than planning how to win the match says everything about their moral bankruptcy.

Yeah I've wanted this for a while. Not 100% sure he'll be the most publicly accepted man for the job given his career record, though.

I don't think there's another phrase uttered on CW so frequently that pisses me off as much as "just a couple of no-balls."
I say it intentionally so that people realize the gravity of what's just happened here and do not brush it away as "everyone does it", "Level 2 offense", this isn't criminal etc. If we break down why the no-balls were so heinous, then I think the same can be applied to ball tampering as well. It comes down to trying your best on the field in a legal way, and not cheating the opposition and the spectators from what they see as a fair game taking place.

You had a jackass Salman Butt coercing young guys like Amir to do this and Amir got a 5 year ban and even jailtime and actually I'm glad that the Australian public and the Australian cricket board are taking this much more seriously than some guys here at CW who just say dock him 100% of his match fees and maybe a 1 match ban and we move on on the grounds of "everybody does it".

also mark cosgrove was never considered coz he's fat, yet they're still gonna pick all these guys as soon as their bans are up excluding bancroft.

so being fat is the worse than ball tampering. even worse than being brad hodge.

(im not suggesting they never pick smith again - if he's available you pick him every time obv)

Well that don't matter too much, I recall few objections to a guy like Lehmann getting the gig at the time. Albeit I wasn't here.

Unless they can pile it on quickly, I don't think we should give Australia too short a time to grind out a draw... This pitch isn't deteriorating that much.
Ehh, given what has happened I can't see Australia not collapsing.
