LOL.. How odd is it that when AB and De Kock both figure in an ODI XI, it is De Kock who keeps and yet when the same happens in tests, AB keeps :) Just so odd... I understand that De Kock was picked as a specialist bat and all that but AB is the best all forms batsman in the world (in fact, best batsman IMO) and is the next in line to lead the test side. He really should be batting #4 and not keeping at this stage of his career, esp. because he is not super good at it anyways..
Its because he's the 'new kid'. South Africa have a ton of weird superstitions/rituals in tests, most of which revolve around the batting order. Literally every new batter starts at 6/7, even though someone like De Kock has always either opened or batted 3. With regards to the keeping its probably entirely up to ABDV however, he probably just would rather not keep in ODIs as well due to workload.

Limited overs they don't seem to mind as much.

I wish we'd go back to those days.

The normal awards that everyone else has
de Kock would want to be a bloody good fielder to mean it makes sense for him to not take the gloves.

AB probably the best fielder in the universe.

Whatever it takes!!!

Yep.. And vice-captain.. So hypothetically if Biff Smith were to get injured for the next test, then De Kock suddenly becomes good enough to keep at test level?

One theory I've heard about AB keeping over De Kock was the Tsolike factor. Would looks slightly controversial if De Kock took over the gloves.

Thanks, apartheid!

Yeah... it is almost as if they need to play him to show that he is not the best option and then pick the next guy.. Honestly, no team selection should ever have to depend on such factors..

Poor Jacques Rudolph got shafted in Australia due to shady selections a while back. He was suppose to play but got yanked from the team at the last minute.

That guy is waaaay too mouthy for his own good. Hopefully he'll have a shocking run of form, get dropped and the world of international cricket will be spared the utterances of that waste of oxygen.
At the risk of going all TNT, christ people overreact to the **** David Warner says. He's a bit of a pillock, but people should learn to stop taking him seriously (or, at least, stop paying attention to him).
