Hey what ever happened to Marchant de Lange? Bloke looked like Terminator. I still remember his 7-fer in a losing cause at home vs. SL.
Predictably struggling with injuries.

But still only 23. Currently trying to get overs under his belt for Easterns Provincial team. Can't say its been too successful.

And with a wave of new young talent in the 18-21 age range of quicks in SA coming through I reckon he will struggle to get a look in even if he got over his injury concerns. Maybe T20 cricket will be best for him.

According to Neil Bisseker who works for AlgoaFM, Russell Domingo has told him that its between Abbott and Kleinveldt to replace Parnell.

So that seems to rule out McLaren and also gives Abbott a chance of jumping Rory.

Hypothetical -- If Australia made a bowling change for Cape Town, what would it be?

Pattinson for Siddle?
Its a difficult one really as both Harris and Siddle have been below their best. If Pattinson was to come in I would prefer him to be the opening aggressive bowler so I think his inclusion would help Siddle keep his spot. If Bird comes in, it probably helps Harris keep his spot at the expense of the big, but getting smaller-hearted Victorian.

That dropped way short so no dramas there, but de Villiers is a seriously poor keeper. Even the catches he took early in the first innings he ended up on the ground. Has no footwork, just really good hands and is quite athletic. He's like Matthew Wade if Wade had good hands.
I made this exact comparison at cricket over the weekend. His catching area is so small its a miracle he takes so many cleanly. His hand injury obviously isn't helping either. You copped a lot of grief reading back through the test but this was a solid point.

oh boi, did our mate wake up with a bad taste in his mouth this morning or what.

went to bed and heard d00lander and smarsh get out, was reverse tanging then, must have been some awesome bowling. well done to smith holding back his quicks as much as he did, could easily have overbowled them early but mixed it up nicely.

still not even sure watson was fit, but if he was just left out because they couldnt make a decision between doolan and marsh i'd be disappointed tstl

gotta say i'm with hooksey though. frothing for the decider, stoked with the summer we've had, just really hoping they can step it up for the last one.

What's with all this talk about the pitch being a flat one? Sure it wasn't a green seamer but it hardly seemed easy to bat on. Pretty rough to devalue Rogers' runs as being scored on a road when no one else from his team seemed to really come to terms with the pitch except for Warner.
Pitch was a road, the damage being done was from reverse swing, something which takes the pitch out of the equation. Rogers was impressive because he came through that period second dig. Also didn't give as many chances as Warner.

Whatever it takes!!!
I've only seen de Kock in one dayers admittedly, but de Villiers is a very poor wicket keeper so I would be surprised if that is the case given what I've seen from de Kock in one day cricket.

LOL.. How odd is it that when AB and De Kock both figure in an ODI XI, it is De Kock who keeps and yet when the same happens in tests, AB keeps :) Just so odd... I understand that De Kock was picked as a specialist bat and all that but AB is the best all forms batsman in the world (in fact, best batsman IMO) and is the next in line to lead the test side. He really should be batting #4 and not keeping at this stage of his career, esp. because he is not super good at it anyways..

If de kock was picked as a keeper it would have been a PR nightmare in south africa because tsolikile is supposedly next in line.

Why do teams have to pick the ones who are next in line? If someone comes along who is better than the one next in line then pick that guy.

It's Algoa FM, they're about 5049403th in line to get a good scoop.

AB is considered the better keeper, but AB captains in ODIs so doesn't add keeping to his workload.

Because of racial politics, really. The Tsolekile story is incredibly sensitive.

No doubt perpetuated by Moonda and her bilious writing.

It's not for me to comment on a country and politics I'm not privy to, but don't the likes of Duminy/Amla/Philander/Parnell(?) indicate there is a path for non-whites (again, apologies if this is an incorrect term) if they're good enough?

In a nutshell, black not the same thing as non-white
