Is anyone in India watching "Fourth Umpire"? I hope not. There are better analysis shows on the nes channels.

Do you think anything with the Chennai crowd being friendly is because Warne beat Murali? Or just because of another reason.
I'd think it is genuine friendliness and respect for a truly great bowler.

Interesting day. Australia did really well in the end, despite no less than six dropped catches in the innings and a pretty poor performance by McGrath.

Up until the last half hour before tea none of Australian bowlers looked particularly dangerous, but Kasprowicz had a great spell then and removed Dravid and should have had Ganguly. Warne and Gillespie bowled really well in the second half of the day as well, and Warne in particular has answered a lot of his critics who have said he can't perform against the best players of spin. He didn't rip through the order, but he bowled very well without much luck and more than deserves a 5-for.

There were times today when Australia really missed Brett Lee, I think. It's hard to see who he could replace in the side, but he has comfortably the best strike rate of any Australian bowler and would have been a big help in the first three hours when Australia simply didn't look like taking a wicket, at least if it was one of the days when he can bowl straight, as opposed to the 14 wides in 8 overs days.

For India it was a great innings from Sehwag, but one has to wonder what would have happened if Clarke had hung on to that catch when it was 0-0 on the first evening. When Patel came to the crease the Indian score without Sehwag's input was 78, so a first innings lead here certainly doesn't mean their batting problems are gone.

no actually the chennai crowd is always friendly. they even gave saeed anwar a standing ovation for his 194 in an odi. and again also cheered pakistan when they won a test by 12 runs and took a lap of honour around the ground.

Much as Sehwag batted very, very well, the performance of the other batsmen leaves a lot to be desired. What makes two World-XI quality batsmen inside-edge two outgoing deliveries onto the stumps cannot be explained. If they can't score runs, what can the lesser players do? Ganguly was awful, right from the first ball he faced, not just in shot selection, but also in footwork and running between wickets.

Yuvraj also has one problem too many, and he's not doing his talent any justice at all- he's a far, far better player than what we have seen of him, and a lot better than some of those who have got more runs than him in this series. Kaif is going fine, and hopefully he'll get 50 or more. Harbhajan also has a major role to play here- he has to practice his big-hitting, and given a lot of runs on the board, he can take advantage of it and start hitting, but with proper cricket shots.

Exactly and they would be the last to boo Murali as he is also a fellow Tamilian and as also he spends quite a bit of time touring Chennai every year

Well Warne says this is the best he has ever bowled against India yet he is still averaging over 40 in the series and going at well over 3 an over even though Tendulkar is not playing and most of the india batsmen are out of form.

That comment suggests you didn't watch him bowl today, he was magnificent in his later spells. 3-95 are average figures, but there are still four wickets to get and if he continues the way he left off tomorrow he will get a couple of them.

seriously how long will it take gilly to use his brain and bowl lehmann?
everyone knows that when things are not going your way, you try something different, instead of bowling the same 4 bowlers over and over again. the pitch is obviously offering something for the spinners, every wicket in the match so far has been taken by a spinner....jeez lets bowl kaspa and mcgrath in tandem.

Infact I think Kaspa was underbowled. When Lehmann came on to bowl, he had nothing, don't think he would have troubled McGrath.

Kaspa was so dangerous yesterday, everytime he had the ball in his hands I expected something. Great bowler.

Yeh I agree that Lehmann should not have come on to bowl, they needed another 'quality' spinner, like Stuart MacGill. I am amazed he was not picked for the tour.

They should have had Warne bowling.

Warne can't bowl at both ends.

Yuvraj and Ganguly are both alike - they are both just awful with their defensive technique. I think Gangs keeps Yuvraj in the team because he needs to have someone worse than him to keep his place from being threatened. For India the ICC should allow non-playing captain because that's what Gangauly is. And now he has even taught Yuvraj how to field poorly and drop catches.

Speaking of that - is this an Australian team ? No aggression. Walking. Dropping catches. Overthrows. Slow to pick up and throw. As Atherton asked on the air - what's next ? They'll stop drinking beer ?
