**Official** Australia in India Thread

Clarke gone. Gotta feel sorry for him, he looked absolutely devestated. The dream of every young boy to win a test for your country.

Can Gillespie stay in with Gilchrist? Can Gilchrist smash us to victory?

Will Australia's curse of chasing low totals continue?

Why didn't I put money on India to win an hour ago?

Hauritz is pretty handy with the bat, he made 90 odd against WA last year

I think it was against South Australia, but you're probably right as your a West Australian supporter.

But 96 against South Australia or West Australia on placid pitches is a different thing to what he will encounter when he has to bat.

Haha. They just showed the Australian team in the dressing room and one of the support staff was smoking a cigarette, then when he realised the camera was on him, he hid it. It's like a 13 year old getting caught by Mum.

The flat wickets that are widely praised do the opposite. Talented bowlers look hopeless and pathetic batsman can stay in forever.

The difference is, flat pitches don't even offer entertaining constests, just long pointless draws. Minefields might be short and make it hard for the batsmen, but they also provide exciting contests that are wonderful to watch. Offer me this or the Sydney pitch from the Indian tour of Australia and I'd take this any day.

I'm talking about the pitches which you see at the majority of matches...Result late on the 4th day to mid 5th. The ones that provide a reasonably balanced contest between bat and ball.

Can you provide an example of the flat pitches you're talking about?

Sure, here's a couple of scorecards from matches I mentioned earlier.

Also see the ODI series between Pakistan and India in Pakistan recently.

Damn this is tense, i'm so happy for Sachin and Laxman though, scoring fifties on this pitch is a great way to prove you still have it

these two playing are alright, Australia are still a 0.1/100 chance.
(As i say this Hauritz hits a four, 36 more to win)

36 to go...

Never say never in cricket. I'm starting to think of a certain match against the West Indies in 1992, not to mention the Champions Trophy final this year on a similarly difficult wicket.
