Martyn finally gone! After a tremendous knock.

Can anyone watching the game tell me whether Martyn's shot was silly, or was it a good ball from Kumble which draw him into a second slog attempt?

I'm so tempted to turn that TV on :(

Gilly out but Clarke's just hit three 4s, and got to his 50.

What the hell are the selectors going to do? Lol, nice problem to have actually.

If Clarke gets 72, he will have beaten Lehmann, so the odds would possibly lie on Clarke staying if he passes 72.

Warne stumped. Gillespie can put together a solid partnership as was shown last test, so hopefully he will demonstrate some support with Clarke.

Warne stumped off Kartik. Sounds like a good piece of work by Patel :-O .

Excellent late fightback by India.

Can anybody who's watching give us an idea of how the wicket's playing? Anything in it for the bowlers?

I just come from College and switch on the television and get to see the same old incident - Patel misses a stumping :D . I can't believe the guy's luck

The sooner he goes back to domestic cricket and get better on his keeping skills the better - even though he is batting very well.

You can't be essential to the team as a Batsmen-Keeper if you are only good at one of the jobs. In Patel's case, he is batting well, but his keeping is appalling.

He just dropped another.

Sorry mate but you need some more time to work on your keeping. Do the BCCI employ wicket keeping coaches and is there any domestic cricket being played ATM?

Heh, Clarke's first-chance average drops further... ;)

There is the Ranji Trophy - he should really play for Gujarat there, which should be fairly good oppostion (Mumbai, Karnataka, Delhi...) but international players don't normally play for those teams. Good thing is that Gujarat have a fair few seam bowlers...sounds to me like he's needing that especially.

Has Clarke just been very lucky to survive 2 LBW shouts from Zaheer? Cricinfo implies that 1 of them, at least, was fairly plum.
I saw one of them. It was close, no doubt about that, but at the time it was talked up way too much by Deano. I heard three, count them three, noises. Pad, bat, pad. So with a flurry of noises like that, you can understand the umpire being unwilling to give it out.

I'm disappointed with the way Deano just kept going on about it at the time about it being so obvious.

On another note, I'm almost sorry for Lehmann. Finally hits some form, but he can't shake Clarkey off his back. This is an amazing battle to be watching between the two, but I have to confess I will be disappointed if Lehmann is dropped, because that will be a sad end for him. As it stands, he's injured and due to be reassessed tomorrow, but if he misses out on the fourth test and Clarke rides on the wave of another injury, and continues his rollicking start to test cricket, it might be curtains for Boof...

Why not drop Ponting? Just say the injury is prolonged... ;) :p

Surely... I MEAN SURELY, Patel is done? The world knows he's a shocking keeper, its not just a 'bad match' as Ganguly put it. He needs to be dropped and improve his keeping skills greatly. It's ridiculous, you can't bloody play the best team in the world with keeping like that.

So frickin annoying.

Without seeing any of the cricket and going by results I'd have thought Katich was the most likely of the batsmen to make way.

Well I'm surprised no one is mentioning Katich as someone who can be dropped. When you think about it, Katich is filling in for Ricky Ponting, and competent as he has been, he won't be staying at number 3. Clarke, however, has come into the number 6 spot and blown everyone away with a barnstorming entry to test cricket. Katich has also been great in the number 6 position, but at the moment I'd have to say that Clarke has the wood on him.

Again, not saying that Katich should be dropped for Clarke if Lehmann is still fit, but he isn't invincible. He is in exactly the same position as Clarke; he has been performing excellently, but in a fill-in capacity.

Do you know what I think? I think that Patel is a plant; it's all an intricate set up by the Aussies to win in India for the first time in 35 years. Think about it; he's been alright up until this series, and bam! All of a sudden he's got greasy iron gloves.

The Aussies have been planning this one for some time I see... ;)

Just before you said it, Scaly piscine mentions it...

I'm sure that whoever does get dropped must feel terribly hard-done by, given that Katich has been a regular in the side for the past year, Lehmann for the past three years, Marto for the past four (IIRC), and Clarke has performed very well. It's just unfortunate that they have five world-class batsmen for four spots...
