Eden Gardens is getting a test against South Africa I believe.masterblaster said:Of all places, they put the test at Nagpur!
The Mohali ground in Chandigardh is one of the best test match cricketing grounds in India, with plenty of help for the faster bowlers and batsmen, with some spin on day's 4 and 5.
But no, Nagpur it is. No matches in Eden Garden, the home of Indian Cricket either. Shame really.
I meant that the rain saved Australia from a possible defeatmavric41 said:What ? the Indians save the rain?

It's a rash move, but I would drop Yuvraj Singh and open with Mohammad Kaif. The man showed he had the technique to tackle the Australian bowling and was really looking superior to Yuvraj Singh in batting stakes. My main man to open would be Akash Chopra, but he's been forgotten.Spetsnatz said:Re: Tendulkar, I'm just wondering whether its in India's best interests
to play him -- he's had no match practice for 2 months now and he would have to replace an in form Mohammad Kaif in the middle order.
Wouldn't it make more sense to play him in the BP X1 against against RSA and ease him back into the national team ?
I'm not sure India so desperately need him atm (they still showed they could rack up a decent total against the Aussies in Chennai and that too without major contributions from Dravid or Laxman) ; yes he's a great batsman - but to accomodate him you would have to drop Kaif.
If Patel is playing then why shouldnt he be prefered over Kaif as an opener ?masterblaster said:It's a rash move, but I would drop Yuvraj Singh and open with Mohammad Kaif. My ideal team for Nagpur:
Sehwag
Kaif (even though I'd like to see Chopra there but anyways...)
Dravid
Tendulkar (If Fit) / Yuvraj
Laxman
Ganguly (c)
Patel (even though I'd like to see Dinesh Karthik in this spot)
Irfan Pathan
Agarkar
Harbhajan
Kumble
I concur. Actualy he is a better bowler on all tacks. He is a bit emoty above the shoulders but Agarkar is no great brains either. Maybe a tad bit smarter than Nehra but Nehra is a far better bowler and more consistent.Deja moo said:Nehra has reported fit for the third test.
IMO, Nehra would be a better bet for the dustbowl that is Nagpur rather than AA .
Just difference in opinion I guess, but against Australia, I'd always go for Agarkar over Nehra or Zaheer.SJS said:I concur. Actualy he is a better bowler on all tacks. There'd be far too much pressure on the young man to open and to wicketkeep, plus it'd probably affect his keeping negatively even more, so I wouldn't do it.SJS said:If Patel is playing then why shouldnt he be prefered over Kaif as an opener ?
