straight swap for Uzi and Warner if we deem Warner as droppable or bring back burns or what

and is Jake Lehmann ever a chance? 2 solid FC seasons in a row now and being the coach's son probably means he doesn't have to do as much as most to get a chance
If he shows he can move his feet an iota and that his game might not be 100% hand-eye thrashing sure.

I'd prefer Mad Dog again

I don't blame Australia for not being too animated by the time Yadav got out tbh. They actually stuck to it pretty well imo given how well India batted and the conditions. Would've been nice to see a couple of the catches behind get taken off the spinners, but at the end of the day Pujara batted wonderfully well, and most importantly had Saha and Vijay make good contributions with him as well. Apart from Maxwell, Smith didn't get the same support. If he had, Australia would have got 550-600 themselves. The couple of sessions where Australia has lost its way with the bat will likely cost them two tests, it did cost them the second test, and will probably do so here as well.

Would also like to see Handscomb stand up here and make a big contribution instead of looking good for 30 odd. With Rocks and Diamonds batting ahead of him, he must know he could be in at any ****ing moment. I wish Marsh could start every innings on like 15 or 20 not out. He looks a different player once he makes double figures.

It’s not so much a criticism but the state of mind of where the Oz team was at re their reaction to Yadav wicket. Even the most dire of situations there’s always a small amount of celebration when Oz take a wicket (especially from someone like Warner) but on this occasion, zero.

And I think this underlined the genius of the Saha/Pujara partnership in the first two sessions. I thought they could’ve pushed the scoring harder in the middle session, but perhaps they realised just nurdling and nudging singles for four hours and totally batting Oz out of the game would demoralise their opponents better than if they scored quicker but lost wickets earlier.

Warner's shot was just atrocious

Someone needs to teach him the rules of the game and explain to him that if you get hit on the pad outside the line then you cant be out

Simply dangling that bat out there with minimal foot movement is a recipe for disaster in junior cricket let alone tests

I feared at the time that the Pujara non-decision would be a turning point and so it has proven to be

He batted brilliantly but the match might be very different if he was correctly given out for 22

Kohli is a real flog. Should probably make more runs than Mitch Marsh has made for the series before carrying on like he did at Warner's dismissal yesterday.

Between that and Jadeja being given not out when Lyon had him lbw, Australia can bizarrely feel unlucky to be so far behind in a Test match they've played poorly in.

We're doomed today, but I'd like to see us try to get ourselves into the blue playing normally, getting any kind of lead rather than hunkering down and praying they don't take the next 8 wickets before the day is done.

That's as optimistic as I'm getting.

We need to come up with a drinking game for tonight and the next Test....

Like when a commentator (*cough* Shastri) uses the word "unbelievable" for a situation that's completely believable.

Yeah, got to love the commentators' hyperbole. When a bloke leans on a half volley through cover and the commentator shouts out "Amazing!", when it's kind of been standard since 1877.

Sometimes my daughter, who is 2 years old, says "great shot" when a batsman blocks the ball. Once she even said it when a batter holed out to cover. Still better than the channel 9 commentary.

Yeah I gave Warner a spray before the series (not that anyone really cares) about his batting away and his 'oh that's just how I play attitude'. I hope he gives himself an uppercut after his dismissal yesterday because it was pathetic, just like the rest of his batting.

Anyway, I kind of think this is the real challenge for Smiths 'new' team. We've never been able to effectively 'dead bat' a draw out and if we quietly capitulate before lunch then it's more of the same really.

By my count all these Oz batsmen have made tons overseas in the 16 Tests (incl this current one) since Warner last made one:

Smith (7-8 tons at a guess)
Rogers
Burns
Khawaja
Voges (multiple)
S Marsh
Maxwell

Most amusing of all, Warner’s highest score in this period (85) is actually less than what Mitch Marsh has managed (87).

This is it. I think that having no chance to win helps a team collapse more than being in with a sniff, especially Australians, who are all into this "a draw is a loss/all or nothing" attitude. Now they have no idea how to bat and will be all out by tea, excepting a Smith heroic. Even then it seems futile because last drop doesn't get his tucker in test cricket..

Credit to Jadeja, who seems/is the only spinner making the ball look threatening here.

Wow special knock that from Pujara. As much as I love pitches favouring bowlers and bowlers running through sides, I do feel that these pitches and the ones against England are more in India's interests than the square turners. Firstly Indian batsmen don't play spin as well as before, and square turners always brings into play the opposition spinners. Even Tahir got a 5fer in 2015 and you always have the risk that if one opposition bat like Smith gets stuck and they post 270+, you're ****ed.

I think he's fine in similar conditions to Australia, and I can imagine him making Ashes runs too, but he's poor in the subcontinent for sure.
Averages 37 in England with no 100s
Averages 26 in West Indies with no 100s

People troll Ashwin for taking wickets only in India. Warner has been getting away with failures in SC and England

He hasn't got away with it any more than Ashwin has. People been calling him out on it for a while. They both deserve to have the **** trolled out of them for it. I mean, at least Warner hasn't been ranked number one at his discipline while doing SFA away from home.
