It would've been a different game had India batted first. In the 1st innings it was possible to play defensively, Smith hung around easily for 90 balls.

But after about 2 sessions, the pitch became pretty unplayable and a bit of a lottery.
It deteriorated visibly today imo. But by then the game was already gone. Are you seriously saying the pitch became unplayable early on day 2? These are the same excuses SA threw after they lost here. There was nothing unplayable in the first innings at all.

Crappy end to a great run for India. Here's hoping the next game is the start of another one.

I gotta say in terms of Disappointing performances, this one is right up there with 2007, but well played Australia it was a match won by them rather than lost by India.

Smith played the best Test innings I have ever seen
Eh, I think people are going overboard with this. I give O'Keefe and Starc 100% credit, but that Smith innings was lucky as **** and was no masterpiece.

Well done Aus. Can't quite believe it. Sure India will come back hard, but we've won a test. Overseas! Made my weekend.
If India make more rank turners, they may again be shocked. This, falling to visiting spinners on a track made for an easy Indian win, is not the first time it has happened.

Secondly, our spinners, particularly Jadeja, appear satisfied with beating the bat again and again. Jadeja did not bowl well enough to exploit a track tailor made for someone like him. He bowled just good length or marginally shorter. And kept beating the batsmen with the turn. When a wicket turns that much you need to pitch up slightly further up so as NOT TO MISS THE EDGE. If you keep missing the edge and bowl over after over in the same way you are not doing a great job - and he wasn't.

Australian spinners pitched up further and the Indians were forced to play forward much more than the Australians were.

They, the Aussie batsmen (particularly Smith) played back a lot and were able to avoid nicking it even though the turn and bounce that jadeja got seemed to make it look as if he was going to get a wicket any ball.

This is bad bowling on a turning track.

O'Keefe's 12/70 is the second best match figures by a visiting bowler in India, second only to Ian Botham's 13/106. The previous best by a spinner was Krejza's 12/358.
