Need an extra batsman, I think. Too much pressure on Jinks at the moment, and he's not up to handling that in these conditions. Nair's got to stand up and deliver.

If India make more rank turners, they may again be shocked. This, falling to visiting spinners on a track made for an easy Indian win, is not the first time it has happened.

Secondly, our spinners, particularly Jadeja, appear satisfied with beating the bat again and again. Jadeja did not bowl well enough to exploit a track tailor made for someone like him. He bowled just good length or marginally shorter. And kept beating the batsmen with the turn. When a wicket turns that much you need to pitch up slightly further up so as NOT TO MISS THE EDGE. If you keep missing the edge and bowl over after over in the same way you are not doing a great job - and he wasn't.

Australian spinners pitched up further and the Indians were forced to play forward much more than the Australians were.

They, the Aussie batsmen (particularly Smith) played back a lot and were able to avoid nicking it even though the turn and bounce that jadeja got seemed to make it look as if he was going to get a wicket any ball.

This is bad bowling on a turning track.
While I thought he bowled very well and was unlucky, this is a fair point. A bit like how Bob Simpson said for years Bruce Reid kept bowling too short of a length and while he bowled well, beat the bat and got wickets, he didn't really get the big bags he should've. Once he started pitching it up more in the 1990s the big hauls came.

Bad spin bowling, yes, but not because of the reasons you mentioned. Jadeja's problem was not the length but his line considering the massive turn he was getting. He was always bowling it a bit too outside the off stump when he should have been straighter to get the edges by balls that were ripping past. And Ashwin kept releasing the pressure with too many boundary balls that were too short for this track.

And bring in whom? Parthiv? Mukund? Good luck.

No need to gut the whole team. Jayant was a weak link throughout the test... Nair in for him is the only real change we should make.
Bhuvi for Ishant. Can't do worse and can bat.

It's like the first WT20 match last year. Hope we come back similarly.

I am ok for either Ishant or Bhuvi but it should be Nair for Jayant and Mukund for Rahul. Mukund has been in very good form recently and Rahul is not dependable at all. Also, Mukund brings in with him few extras like being a left hander and having been involved in large opening partnerships with Vijay for Tamilnadu. I don`t remember when we last had a 100 run partnership for the opening wicket.

Yea too many changes is not the solution.

I'd stick with Rahane for the entire series and see how he does. If he doesn't perform well then serious questions should be raised after the series.

Anyway, while the MoM went to O'Keefe the prize for the best runs of the match definitely has to go to Renshaw.

Rahul played the worst shot of the match but he was the only one from our team to make a decent score. No way should he be dropped if he's not injured. Doesn't make any sense at all.

Nair in for Jayant and Bhuvi for Ishant.

I'd drop him if he sucks next game too and we lose that as well tbh.

Only a few months back everyone was laughing at Australia for losing 5 Tests in a row. Bounced back impressively by winning 5 straight.

If we panic and do something like bringing Gambhir or Parthiv back as a specialist opener, I will lol. Rahul is fine though he is made of glass, deserves a few more chances considering the obvious talent that is there. Rahane's asshole clenches up so fast and so tight at the sign of good spin bowling and Nair should come in for him. Jayant should go back and improve if he wants to come back later. I would rather see Kuldeep in his place instead. And Ishant Sharma should be dropped for a batsman. The question is, who?
