Haha not surprised by Raina's bowling. He's actually been working on his bowling quite a bit. Dunno if anyone remembers but he bowled a leg spinner in the second test vs SL. Parnavitarna almost got sucked into it.

ponting vs RAINA

1st raina direct hit ponting run out 2nd inning ponting pull's n raina takes it

2nd test raina 1st ball ponting lbw out raina-1st test wiket

And i am quite amused by the crowd at Bangalore...

Ponting is averaging 50.66 in this series and has now scored 418 runs @ 41.80 on his last 2 tours of India with 1 hundred and 3 fifties....

...with one innings to go, what does he need to get the "can't play in India" monkey off his back....I think 132 (or 82*) in the 2nd innings will do it as then he averages 50 in his last 6 Tests in India....
That monkey has been gone ever since he scored that hundred in Bangalore 08. Anyone claiming that Punter can't play spin in IND (which i have seen on CW since), is seriously misinformed.

I think the pressure to score runs there, for the simple fact that he hasn't, hinders him more than the actual spin bowling TBF. Anyway, would love him to finish with 50+ against every country even if he doesn't get to 40+ in every test country.

must have some special skill to reverse a brand new cherry.
You can't reverse a new ball  It's called conventional swing - you just point the seam the other way. Watch Jimmy Anderson or someone like that. Most people don't have the arm action for it to swing both ways with the new ball, but Zaheer obviously does.

Oh dear. Sarcasm alert.

North actually looked pretty good last night, was impressed, I quite like his style when he is going. His driving is quality.

Gotta say though, and i'm probably way out of line, but does Katich make batting look REALLY hard or what? Defends half volleys on the back foot and pushes them to cover repeatedly. Has that air to his batting that the pitch is a crazy minefield and he is defending for dear life, yet at the other end Watson is cruising at a run a ball. Says he has been working on playing straight, was he gay before or something?? Absolutely nothing goes down the ground Simon, with that funky wrist work everything goes behind square. I like the guy and admire his efforts, but he a great shot array that i think is being slightly hindered by a very quirky technique, but hey average of 50 opening says it all I guess.

Katich has worked hard on his technique and no doubt it has limitations, but he has figured what does are and is doing great. Watson on the other hand has a great technique and I think he lost the lbw problem he had in England, still throws away his wicket near the 50s though.

he's got one of the craziest technique ever!

i fell asleep after lunch. for those who watched the game, whats the pitch looking like right now. more favoring spinners or pacers? i know spinners have taken the most wickets but ya never know. was zaheer getting any reverse? and was sreesanth's bowling as bad as the figures suggest?

Not sure about pace vs spin, but I think because of day1 moisture the spinners got more help then they would have got. So like always I think it will help pace bowlers there. Sree bowled some bad deliveries early on his spell but managed to come back later. And yes Zaheer got the ball to swing late in the day.

Please tell me that was a typo.

If it's a typo no worries, if using dose/does for "those" became common in the manner of "da" for "the", I'll stop reading altogether! :p
