My view

We out played the aussies in 4 of the 5 tests and deserve to come away with the Ashes for the first time in 18 years. Pietersen innings was as good as bothams in 1981 and Flintoff is a better player than Bothan ever was,

The Aussies have to rebulid and have to do so around these 5 players (Ponting,Clarke, Gilcrist, Tait, Lee) they have to find younger guys to step up now it getting too old
4 out of 5, i feel they had us in the last test so i would make it 3 out of the five tests, we outplayed them

My god Flintoff was p***ed when he did that interview at the parade!
And i didn't even know that the big man smoked, there are pictures of him in the newspaper smoking. My ratings for him have just dipped a little as i am not a smoker but i still adore him enough. well he deserves it anyway

He was having a cigar I think in celebration, not a full-time smoker as far as I'm aware.

He was having a couple of biftahs too. I think he's what's termed a "social smoker".

Who cares anyway? He's a full grown man let him do what he likes.

Oh, God. Mark Nicholas has hacked your sign-in.
Actually I pretty much stole all that (with a few changed adjectives) from Simon Barnes in the Times. It just seemed to fit better than any description I could ever make up.

Does biftah mean something else in your area?

It means a bit of 'pass the doobie to the left hand side' round my way.

Wasn't criticising him, just stating facts. :p

Aye, it means fag/tab round 'ere.

Don't think Fred was on the buckets or the hot knives last night :)

hi pedro or anyone else, would you know if S K Warne took a wicket with that ball of the century with his first ball in ashes tests?
I know he got gatting fairly early but was it his first delivery,as my mind is struggling to remember that day???

IIRC yes, he actually opened the bowling and his first ball did for Gatting.

He didn't open the bowling... it's only this year they've resorted to giving him the new cherry ;)

Craig McDermott & Merv Hughes took the new ball, Brendon Julian (remember him?) was first change, and Warnie second.

Scorecard - Gatt was number three, and Warne's first ball in a Test in England did for him.

Lol. Where did I get that from? Maybe the memory is so painful I forced it from my brain, and it came back into my head from around the wicket, pitched in the rough and bowled me leg stick.

Or actually, more realistically, it was all those bucket bongs in the '90s

Seeing the celebrations are like if England win something for the first time in 18 years, how will it be if England win next year 's football (soccer) World Cup - something that has not been done for nearly 40 years?
Bwuhahahahahahah

Aus will get closer to that prize.
