Then Australia are not out of it by any count. 3 wickets to go. So Australia will certainly bat again. Can they achieve the requisite 4.5-6 run rate when they will bat?Demolition Man said:All of them .
I genuinely believe that saving face will not be on the agenda of our team. Its not an option.Adamc said:You are dreaming.
I can (only just) see Australia successfully chasing around five an over, but not much more than that, given the quality of England's bowling and the possible effect of poor light later on. Regardless of the RRR I hope they'll go all out to get it.
Oh, surely they would - or Ponting would cop double the bollocking he's going to cop at the end of the series.Adamc said:Regardless of the RRR I hope they'll go all out to get it.
There are many aspects to Ponting's poor captaincy and not just one instance.Linda said:And if Tait had gotten hit around, Ponting would again be called a poor captain. People are never happy.
I still think they can chase anything up to 6-7 an over without a miracle - fast outfield, the ball stays hard and the boundaries are reasonably small. I wouldn't back Giles and Hoggard especially to keep it particularly tight either.Adamc said:You are dreaming.

I realise this, but you were referring to this one instance. Im not having a go at you, just raising a point.Pratyush said:There are many aspects to Ponting's poor captaincy and not just one instance.
You must have been watching a different series to most people on the planet. Brett Lee has been ordinary at best.honestbharani said:Brett Lee is a class act. I, for one, am genuinely pleased to see him do reasonably well in this series.
Exactly! Saving face would be only possible if Australia can retain the Ashes. So if even 8 an over would be required in an extreme scenario, Australia would certainly go for it.Linda said:I genuinely believe that saving face will not be on the agenda of our team. Its not an option.
By saving face I meant playing for a draw if the win is impossible.Pratyush said:Exactly! Saving face would be only possible if Australia can retain the Ashes. So if even 8 an over would be required in an extreme scenario, Australia would certainly go for it.
Oh, come on, mate. At the very least, you could acknowledge that he has done, as honestbharani said, "reasonably well".Mister Wright said:You must have been watching a different series to most people on the planet. Brett Lee has been ordinary at best.
Usually saving face means playing or a draw. But Australia's face would not be saved in that scenario here. So they would obviously go for saving their faces. But for doing that, they would have to go for a victory and not a draw.Linda said:By saving face I meant playing for a draw if the win is impossible.
His bowling has been okay, but his courage and skill with the bat has been outstanding for someone who bats lower down the order.Slow Love™ said:Oh, come on, mate. At the very least, you could acknowledge that he has done, as honestbharani said, "reasonably well".
You could say he's been captain dissa-pontingPratyush said:There are many aspects to Ponting's poor captaincy and not just one instance.
Exactly.Majin said:I won't be betting against the Australians, not until they have 50 to get from three balls. Until then you bet this game can go either way.
