Huh? Whats Giles not being able to bat got to do with him averaging 50 with the ball for bugger-all wickets.
He's had 2 crucial spells and has also kept it tight at other times, and you were the one who brought in the batting thing.

social said:
So, if Colly doesnt play you select Anderson 8-)
Yes, and people were writing off Jones, Hoggard and Flintoff with the ball before the series...

Bell's average of 20 doesnt lie
It doesn't tell the full truth.

Gilchrist hasnt scored any runs but at least he can catch
At times he can, yes.

I don't get why you'd advocate playing five bowlers. It's not as though Australia have been spending two days out in the field, struggling to get English wickets. It's just that we have conceded too many runs - by bowling both sides of the wicket, and too short - between our wicket taking deliveries. We don't need more strike power, but more discipline.

Moreover, everyone talks about needing 20 wickets to win a Test, but overlook the fact that to win most Tests, you also need 600 runs. Dropping an Australian batsman for a bowler would make it very difficult - in an already underperforming batting lineup - for Australia to score the necessary 600 runs in this Test.

Very good point. Ok, I will now be fine with Australia playing four bowlers (although I would still prefer 5 considering that McGrath is probably playing wounded). However, I think that getting a big score is on the shoulders of the top four, regardless of how many bowlers we have.

 unfortunaely not get a 50 cent album a listen to lyrics like:

'Shizzle mah nizzle..
Don't change the dizzle, turn it up a little
I gotta living room full a fine dime brizzles
Waiting on the Hizzle, the Dizzle and the Shizzle
G's to the bizzack, now ladies here we gizzack

Wrong move IMO, but the selectors have hardly done a bad job so far in the series.

Question is, should Collingwood be going in at 7 with Flintoff 6?

Flintoff should stay where he has batted for the series, I think. So Flintoff at six, Collingwood 7 and Jones 8.

Re Collingwood

I think this is the wrong decision; I can't see the positive merit in that selection, only a defensive mindset, which is not characteristic.

Still, we'll see.

Advantage Australia.

Unproven batsman and an extremely ordinary bowler at this level.

Wow, so they did pick Collingwood. Looks like they're going for the draw.
:)

It`s obvious England would love a draw. I don`t see how picking Anderson would really help. Even going for a win - Hoggard, Harmison, Flintoff, Giles and Collingwood is good enough really.

Well, hopefully not.
