A sub fielder cannot act as a wicket-keeper. Aside from that, they can do anything, and the opposing captain has no right of a appeal with regard to where they field, how long they are on for or why the other guy is off.
Meh alright then, just goes to show how much I know.

Actually, I'm pretty sure a twelth man isn't allowed to be in a 'specialist position,' such as keeper, slip or bat-pad.
It used to be the case that employing a substitute in any specialist catching position was severely frowned upon. However this became rather discredited for bat-pad when teams started putting their worst or oldest fielder there (Nasser, Thorpey) and the rule on slip fieldsmen (maybe restricted to 1st and 2nd slip) rather disappeared. (although in this case it rarely becomes an issue anyway)

Alright. If Australia can bat until tea, the game is still somewhat alive. Until stumps and it's definately on.

This partnership and the next have to be big.

And on top of that, Gilchrist could have a trundle with the bat too!

I'll put it down as an oversight, can't see a WA boy not backing Gilly's chances.
Indeed, completely forgot about Gilchrist, then that should mean a bigger score than what I noted. :)

Urgh. After not being able to watch cricket for four years, I come back to Australia, the greatest series I'm going to see for a long time, and Mum and Dad want to watch something else on the TV. And they had thought 'we won't need another TV in the house.' So I'm back onto cricinfo

Bell drops Clarke. Cricinfo said it was difficult though.
The ball just hit him, not a proper chance really, one of those that might lob up off a knee or something or get caught in the midriff - but that's about the only way you'll catch it.
