Usually some one from the opposite team has to play the inning of his life ala VVS in Calcutta. The fact that an Australian has to do it undermines the hole Australia find themselves in.

England were also in a bit of a hole with 5 down before the partnership of Jones and Flintoff.

Crisis separates the men from the boys. Can Australia show mettle finally? We will see in the next few days.
they just have to this is the most frustrating series i have watched with Australia ever, dont bother compare the the India series because at least Australia were batting well this series their batting has been uhhhhhhhh

More likely that he's a special talent plus the standard of county cricket is pretty crap so there's not a great deal evidence that it does that much for your game after a while
5 years ago I'd have agreed with you, but the standard has clearly and definatley improved since then. Of course, it isn't up to Aussie State standards, but just by watching the games it is obvious that the quality is a lot higher than it has been probably since the 80s when all the West Indians were playing over here. You can see it by how mediocre overseas players no longer just waltz in and absolutley dominate, only the really top players can do that now. Sure, there are still a few 'county pro' types who take plenty of wickets or score plenty of runs despite themm clearly not going to play for England any time soon, but there are less than in the nineties, not to mention there are a few of those in Aussie cricket too.

Funny how Boycs is quite "comfortable" with Ponting's lbw despite the inside edge.

Imagine what his reaction would be to receiving the same 8-)

You know what he means though, no umpire would have picked up that edge. Martyn's however was an absolute shocker...

Mike Hussey is not in the test team because his record at home is very ave. despite dominating county cricket.

David Hussey, who scored 232 no the other day, only plays for the Vics in one-dayers now.

There are obviously some good players but the test team is in no way representative of that system
