Why there isn't a man directly down the ground I don't know. During this series a lot of the tailenders have gone for a slog directly straight down the ground and have gotten fours or sixes from it, especially off Warne.

What a joke that was. I know it's just luck and all that, but if the ball hits the stumps that hard it really should knock the bails off. Something weird about the way they have been prepared this English summer, it keeps happening. First Tremlett's hat-trick ball, a couple of others along the way and then this, the most bizarre of the lot.

If you watch the replay, it dislodged the bail, it merely fell exactly where it had been.

Yeah, but it's happened four or five times this summer. Surely something out of the ordinary is happening with the stumps? Deeper grooves for the bails perhaps, or heavier bails to ensure the wind doesn't blow them off? Whatever it is, it's silly when it causes that sort of thing to happen, and it also cost Tremlett a hat-trick on debut.
