It might have been the right call. I have to say it didn't really look like it was going over the top to me.

Where did all our trust in Hawkeye come, all of a sudden? I'm one of the strongest pro-technology advocates around and I don't trust it, but even the anti-tech people seem convinced by Hawkeye these days.
My initial thought was out, but then I thought of marto.....then again we do not have the height angle the umps do.

the trust comes in Hawkeye, when the decisons go towards your team ;)

You know, just thinking about this series compared to the last truly great one in '81.

That series had..
A comfortable victory for Australia inspired by their main fast bowler (Lillee).
An extremely narrow victory on runs for England as Australia fell apart in a chase. (4th test)
A heroic performance by an Australian batsman to very nearly save a test and keep the series alive. (Border in the 5th, 150 odd off about 350 balls)

Also had an aging Australian team, and England's best player was a big hitting all-rounder.

Hmm. :p

Still to come is the victory after following on, and a huge thrashing by the side which wins the series at the end to cap it off.

Yeah, obviously Marto was a mistake. But I think probably 8 times out of 10 that last one would have been given.

This could be a little bit hairy, 'cause Warne likes to go after Giles.
Warne will be responsible. He's not going to get out slogging with an hour left on the 5th day saving a match... batting with the captain. Surely not.

Giles... hmm. Only advantage in bowling him is that Vaughan can increase the pressure around the bat. Warne should be able to keep him out I think.

This pitch really is a mess now. That footmark Flintoff is avoiding is a couple of inches deep.

Almost into the last hour now... around 100 balls left to survive. Jones is the key I think.

I don't know about him being the key I think he just aimed at the bloody things and thats why the ball kept low.
